TK's past... I wonder what it is and I'd be sad when he's gone T3T
He's too fun to be with. xD
It's funny that he's not good in English...even though he speaks it majority of his screen-time. (but then again...most of the time, they don't even make sense xD)

Aah...another pretty sad episode. T3T
Yuzuru~...

But...Yuzuru x Kanade makes me happy TwT hehe

Want next episode now. lawl

This could still go a few ways ... and so few episodes left.. great episode though yes.. But I really wonder how it will truly end, and what the truth itself even is.

But really 7 days? Slow rescue team.

I figured there was more to his past then we were given before since they haven't showed the true death scene of any member yet. The latter 2/3 of this episode was done really well and totally overshadowed the meeting at the beginning. (Still no tear from me though.) This is what Angel Beats! should have been like all along. Sorry, Maeda but your I-want-it-to-be-a-comedy justification does not work. It should not have taken 8 episodes to build up to this, such a waste. I'm not sure how they'll fit "graduating" every member of the SSS in 4 (?) episodes but I'm still looking forward to the answers Otonashi also wants. What will happen to him and Kanade?

The true message of the show, I think got repeated twice in this episode and really struck a cord with me. "We will be saved." How uplifting.

Kanade ftw! <3

I agree like crazy. I enjoy comedy somewhat, but I started watching Angel Beats expecting it to be a drama, and that's kind of what I was looking for. Don't get me wrong, most of the comedy scenes are pretty funny, but I preferred something more serious.

Maeda is a strange guy. He took a school harem and turned it into one of the most depressing things I've ever seen (depressing as in sad, not scarring like Elfen Lied or School Days), and then he takes Angel Beats and makes it a comedy-drama..

I feel like the ratio is like 3/5 comedy and relaxation, and that should be switched with the drama and story development.

Well, now watching the subs, it seems like Kanade becoming class president was a HUGE issue.

Although, god dammit. Is anyone getting the 'Seven Pounds' vibe now? I mean, they made it a big point to show that he was a organ donor... wonder how that is going to play into later.

Strange people think up strange concepts and twist everything, haha. I probably respect Maeda for that much.

This. Probably the only reason (other than Kanade) why I'm still watching Angel Beats! It's lame and has been utterly disappointing for 7-8 episodes but it keeps me on my feet, thinking exactly what you say every week. ;)

This was a really good episode as far as Angel Beats! is concerned. I'm sorry I ever doubted your status as main character Yuzuru =(. I'm looking forward to how he plans to bring peace to everyone in 4 more episodes. Cockroach seems to be the focus next week. If anything, Maeda most likely would make even me feel some sympathy towards her. Oh, and I laughed at next weeks title coupled with the fact it's focusing on her. Trying to reference the IRL singer YUI huh? XD

Also, during the flashback, I thought they would start eating people to survive. Does that make me crazy?

When he was dying and he started thinking about his little sister, and then he filled out his organ donor card,I started tearing up.

When everyone else realized what he was doing and started doing the same thing, tears were definatly coming.

But when it seems like all is lost, the rescue people come, but then you realize that he died right when they came, and you can see his face with his eyes open,I was practically balling! TTATT Poor Otonashi~!

But,on a happier note,I did like the Otonashi x Kanade parts~<3

Really, that sounds like he was one of the ones in the most pain, but he sacrificed everything he had for those people. Amazing how he made such a huge personality change from a selfish self-obsessed child to an all out caring guy that pretty much gave up his life for all those people by not asking for extra supplies or killing morale with their leader being in that kind of position.
This.
What he did was amazing. I don't know if he would've survived had he been more focused on his own wellbeing, but it's fair to say that there would've been many more casualties if he didn't do what he did. Very moving episode.

Save the SSS by making them all disappear while pulling the strings from the inside, with Kanade as his helper.

I think they tried to elude the ultimate clue here.

You know how we all assumed Otonashi died in the Train Wreck? I think this is another case of that. We, and Otonashi, assumed he died right then. But if he did, then how come he has a memory of the rescue team coming?

More so, they haven't showed how anyone else died. Hinata, Yuri, Iwasawa... Iwasawa we got close to seeing dead, but she was in a hospital and lost the will to live. We're told, "And then I died" but this shows her at the hospital, and it seems abrupt. She lost the will to live but you don't just die by loosing the will to live in a hospital.

I think all of them, the reason why it's specifically kids, they've somehow been selected for some kind of testing. The fact the whole place seems like a video game; I mean they can die without dying, there are soulless "NPCs" who all act like real students, the school setting, the ability to create things out of dirt into something else, the lack of anything spiritual in the world, even Angel's computer system style... This all seems like man made stuff, not the work of a god or something spiritual. They may be in some weird kind of experimental virtual world. I can't pinpoint this as the definite answer, but this all seems more like the work of some outside force than god or spiritual force.

Yes! Finally, an episode where most of it is drama and it's not interrupted by any comedy moments. I think that if the previous episodes of Angel Beats focussed more on the drama the whole series would have been much better.

Back to this ep, I thought for a moment there that Otonashi would disappear because he had no more regrets left... But the reason he doesn't is so that he can help Kanade out? Also, I'm liking Kanade a lot more now that she's talking a lot and showing emotion lol. Agree that the rescue team took too long, cuz surely it would have been strange that the train did not arrive at the next station on schedule.

It feels kinda weird that Otonashi only now realises what we already know since Iwasawa disappeared: that Kanade wanted everyone to have a normal school life and then disappear with no regrets. I don't really understand, did the SSS think that she just wanted to attack them or something? Or is it that Yuri and the others don't want to move on, and therefore Otonoshi and Kanade are gonna go against their wishes?

They are fighting for all the things that they believe that God made their life unreasonable. That's why they're fighting against Ms. Tachibana, which they thought and maybe still think is a representative of God or something. That's why they said that she must be erased so that they will have that world for themselves, which can't happen because she's human too. So everything is a stalemate between beliefs right now...

And Otonashi seems to be the one caught in the middle.

Of course not silly. XD But what I mean, the world seems much more man made than spiritual. That and Otonashi remembering the rescue team coming. Like how many believed the Train Wreck killed him, we still have 4 episodes to go. Otonashi may not remember everything. We know Yuri's family died, we know Hinata started doing drugs, we know Iwasawa lost her ability to speak and laid without a will to live in a hospital, we now know what happened with Otonashi.

However, in typical Key fashion do we really expect to know everything that is going to happen with 4 episodes left? Just saying. And also in typical Key fashion, look at the clues and foreshadowing left in the episodes. I'm just speculating, but it's clear the world they are in, the way it's stylized, isn't spiritual. And I think they are purposely avoiding showing how they died.

I mean, they already have shown graphic scenes in the anime, they even showed dead people on a train this episode. Blood spattered clocks, all of them bloodied and "dead" on a school track field. It's not they aren't willing to show it, they have graphic stuff in the anime. They just are purposely avoiding it, likely for a reason.

Needs more Kanade :|

But screwing around aside, I liked this episode quite a bit. There's finally a coherent plot arc (kind of obvious though, since the series is wrapping up D: ), and there's no more random screwing around; assuming Maeda stuck to the Key formula, there'll be delightful romance (hopefully Otonashi x Tachibana, but more likely Otonashi x Yurippe), followed by tear-jerking conclusion.

Ah right, I see. Thanks. That really is one big misunderstanding as Otonashi said.
Even so, Yuri and the SSS probably won't take too well to Otonashi's attempt to get them to accept their lives and move on (as that's why they're fighting in the first place). They may even see it as a betrayal, and it could turn into a battle in the end...

Maybe I'm just way too caught up in the moment, but I just have to say this. This episode was one of the most beautiful episodes in all of anime history. Most notably the scene where Otonashi was deciding on what organs to donate, then inspiring everyone else to do the same. Just, wow.. *tear*
What's irritating is how small in amount of episodes this anime has. They should've gave more time on character development so that I, we, can experience a deeper sense of connection to the characters. And maybe actually understanding more on the series..
Nonetheless, outstanding episode. I give it a 10 out of 5!

It's actually been hinted a few times that some of them aren't really dead and that Otonashi and Yuri will have a confrontation at the end.

From the looks of it though Otonashi might actually be dead. It looked like his left kidney ruptured and I'm assuming he donated his other kidney on that card. Assuming he had no pulse when they found him then there's a good chance they just pronounced him dead on the spot. But then again they might pull a fast one on us and have him wake up in a hospital only to find out his sister gave her kidney to him and died right after. This would give a bitter sweet ending to the show.

As for this world (purgatory) being artificially created and not by God....I'm iffy about it. Angel is obviously using technology that technically shouldn't be there and the "NPCs" do seem like something programmed in. Everything else there seems normal though. It would indeed be interesting if this was some kind of new technology hospitals where using to reawaken comma victims or something.
