Utterly boring. I can't seem to put my finger on why, but this anime is nowhere near the main story. Maybe some of you knows why this is so boring.
Kazuma and Aqua has always hard-carried the show.
Just rewatch the main series and you'll soon realize that one of them need to be in any scene for it to have decent pacing, comedy, setup, etc

Neither Megumin nor darkness accomplish this, so a series centered around a character that can't do it is bound to fail when compared against the source material.
Megumin needed a sidekick that carried as hard as our duo, and Yunyun certainly isn't.

Reminded me of good ol' Konosuba! I adored Konosuba and I still think the world has a bunch of great characters even without Kazuma and aqua being the main focus of the show!

I'm trying to reconcile the stakes of this conflict with Host with how Axel was presented in the early episodes of Konosuba S1. All of this is happening while Kazuma and Aqua are in town during that early working montage from the original first episode, right? If that's the case, surely something this big couldn't have happened without Kazuma and Aqua either becoming aware of it or there even being some background evidence of something big happening? After all, everyone is looking for Aqua in this episode and yet we're supposed to believe there wasn't even a hint of this stuff in the original? Furthermore, we're being shown Megumin seeing what Aqua and Kazuma are like in their early moments in Axel, but no hint of her previously knowing them when she ended up joining their party?

Forcing in the cameos and trying to force ending the season on a big battle is making this make much less sense than it should from a timeline perspective. Also, why are they continuing to hide Kazuma and Aqua's faces like this?
I would disagree, if you remember from season 1, she only meets up with aqua and Kazuma after she exhausts her other options and begs to join them. So, it would make sense, that they would be her last resort, and honestly the time line seems pretty correct to me. And in terms of not noticing something big in town, Aqua and Kazuma are doing construction work, so why would they be paying attention to what's going on with adventures?

True enough. Never realized that Megumin would be such a weak character. She's lowkey unpleasant to watch. The main story gave me the illusion that all of the four were equally interesting. Oh, how wrong I was.

The main reason I think they would be is because this episode goes out of its way to establish that adventurers have approached Aqua thinking she's the Arch Priest talked about in the Guild, only to (wrongly) dismiss it based on how she looks after work and based on her baseline personality. And sure, Aqua's an idiot, but it's hard not to take at least some notice of strange things going on when you've been at least partially involved in that fashion.

Maybe we could finally get an explanation of why Chomusuke disappears from season 1 only to randomly reappear on season 2... or maybe we couldn't. That's part of this anime's random humor.

This was a guild issue in a big city of thousands of people, Kazuma and Aqua weren't adventurers when they arrived at the city, they had no reason to be aware of any of this and the entire time they were doing other stuff and part-time jobs was dealt with in a montage.

Why would he read the main manga my guy? He writes a LN not a manga. This was all happening throughout a montage of 2 minutes in the main animel, of which happened throughout 2-3 weeks.

Kazuma and Aqua shenanigans <3

I wonder how they're going to wrap up this season. Because so far, it seems so unlikely their paths will cross.

Also, it has to be in such a way that Kazuma and Aqua would still not know exactly who Megumin is. After all, she had to fully introduce herself to them - it could be that she knew who they were (although I doubt that) but she didn't know who are they.

In KonoSuba universe terms, we're still somewhere between episodes 1 and 2.

Had to admit when I saw this, the whole demon outside of Axel situation adds a whole layer of context to what was going on in those early episodes of Konosuba. Think there is some room for this to fit in the overall narrative due to the odd job montage we saw in Konosuba. Still though, I think it would have been funnier if they actually found some blue haired girl other than Aqua and assumed that person was the arch priest they were searching for.

All that being said, as far as my mind is concerned the more cameos the better. Wiz is a favorite of the Konosuba franchise, she may not have the energy of a main character but she's doing her best with her shop.

So Host has also come looking for Wolbach AKA Chomusuke… Does this lead to the big battle in the first season of Konosuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World?!

Speaking of, we get to see more of Kazuma, Aqua, and even Wiz. The old gang back together again. I can tell that Yunyun simply wants any excuse to hang out with Megumin specifically because she enjoys her company. Both Megumin and Yunyun try to keep their true feelings hidden, but unfortunately since they’re both Crimson Demons, their eyes are a dead giveaway.

I didn’t expect Cecily’s return, nor for her to offer Megumin 5,000,000 Eris to find Aqua, who Megumin happened to see TWICE in this episode.

I’m assuming that in the next episode we’re going to see how Megumin came to the decision to join up with Kazuma and Aqua in the main series and/or there may be a final conflict for the possession of Chomusuke! Things are heating up…

"There's no way a high level clergy can be scamming people"

This guy is so wrong, LOL.

And Aqua is the prime example.

.

Useless Goddess is a Scam Goddess. (especially when she's trying to scam her own religion...)

When everyone's trying to find this "arch priest" to help with the Demon problem, LOL.

This episode shows how even a good character like Cecily can still be fucked by the declining religion of their useless goddess. And this episode is also the point of aqua's religion's collapse when everyone in the religion starts to scam other ppls for money... cause their "goddess demands money"...

Little luck for Megumin or Yunyun in finding a party still, and no luck in the search for Aqua.
Cecily also didn't really help, but Megumin could use that large amount of cash...
With the demon at the end it looks like they will have to make some sort of decisive decision.

Megumin and Yunyn team up to earn money by completing a quest when they encounter the demon that Mugumin's little sister struck a deal with. The demon wants Chomosuke back, so now Megumin has to evaluate her options.

Also, the town of Axel was looking for Aqua as an option to exorcise the demon but nobody could find her because she was too busted. I really hope Kazuma, Aqua, and Megumin join up for this last episode. If Darkness joins, that is great as well.

Aqua pulling off that hustle kek, she leads her religion by example. Cecily the degen priestess sniffing the bedsheets.
