| As someone who's never played Arknights, I think there's nothing wrong with the rate things are being explained, with Amiya's current leadership or with any of the things you mentioned. However, I do think some of the complaints people have about this show are justified. This is subjective, but I honestly think the story did a very poor job at showing why we should care about any of this. Yes, it is an 8 episode prologue of a much bigger story, but that doesn't justify it; you can get people invested in your story in much less. This feels like a redundant thing to say, but it really does feel like the prologue of a game - there are conflicts and power struggles happening, we've been explained why they matter (and it makes sense), but we just have no emotional connection to it and thus no reason to care about it. I wouldn't exactly say it's bad; it's just very empty. Edit: unrelated to the post itself, but I just saw that you have Gakkougurashi in your favourites; how does the manga fare compared to the anime? I wanted to continue the story back when I first finished the anime but I just never got around to it |

Arknight fans all know the beginning is the weakest part of the entire game, but in retrospect, the beginning of the game isn't actually bad in my opinion and I feel people are judging too quickly. This would genuinely be hundreds of episodes of content to adapt and I do think bigger stories usually have much slower starts than a 12-episode story that has to be rushed. People are so used to stories trying to be hype and exciting nonstop. So a slow burn is just too much for some people I feel. Unrelated reply. I like both the Anime and the Manga. They are quite different as the anime took a ton of creative liberties when adapting but they both go hand in hand with their themes. I kind of view the anime as an alternative telling that develops different aspects so if you do read the manga you have to read from the start because they are quite a bit different. But I do recommend it. It has a rushed ending due to getting canceled but overall I value both of them fairly equally while maybe enjoying the anime just ever so slightly more. |
