| Hot take, I think Itsuki was the best girl and Miku was mid. There's a character analysis for Itsuki which really opened my eyes to the character, it was around an hour long and that time speaks for itself on the levels of complexity the character had that most fans of the series haven't seen because they never did a deep dive on the sisters, which is understandable. She was easily the most unique sister because she was the only one who never really fell completely under prince fuutaro's spell, rather she was more focused on her studies, like how the show was supposed to be about originally because she's dead set on becoming a teacher like her mom. I won't explain all my thoughts on her bc that could turn into a college essay about a "best girl" but the summary of it is that, BECAUSE she had the least amount of romantic development with Fuutaro, they IRONICALLY developed the most intimate, interpersonal, and deepest relationship with each other, like Itsuki, could talk to fu-Kun about things that she wouldn't even dare to bring up with her sisters and vice versa. And was therefore the best girl to end up with Fuutaro and should have won. Also know I don't consider her to be a perfect character by any means, none of the girls were perfect, there were a lot of moments where you would think Itsuki's finally gonna get some romantic developments with Fuutaro, but nothing actually happened, and believe me, I was so unbelievably pissed, especially for when the big reveal happens at the very end of the manga (readers know what I'm talking about) because at that point it was UTTERLY MEANINGLESS INFORMATION since the main story was already done, it was basically an epilogue to cover the residual feelings of the 4 sisters who lost the waifu wars that made me want to rip my balls off, even her main defining trait of wanting to be a teacher was executed poorly as well, but her big moments and deep conversations with Fuutaro were enough to overshadow those weaknesses, at least in my eyes. Secondly, I know I'll get hunted down by the church of Miku by saying this but I believe she was the blandest sister out of all 5, I always refer to her as the "safe pick" because she's a fine character don't get me wrong but she never does anything extraordinary, besides the confession, but that's the bare minimum for a piece of romance fiction, they need to have a killer confession scene. And I get why, she's a shy, timid, introverted girl who doesn't have any friends, she's not gonna go out of her way to do something if it's too embarrassing right? Her actions are very realistic for her character, but just because it's realistic doesn't mean it's good... which is the reason many people like Nino the most, as I did at one point as well, she had an amazing redemption arc going from the most hated to most loved Quint by a mile. Both because she took a common trope where mc's find it impossible to hear a girl's confession because of some divine intervention, like some loud noises or a character suddenly showing up to say hi after 40 years, and absolutely shatters it in front of both the audiences and fu-Kun's eyes. But also because she is an alpha woman, she gives no fucks about social standards, she's gonna do what she wants, and says what she wants, she doesn't care, and no one is gonna stop her. She's the woman every guy would like to marry, but have yall ever met a woman like her ever? probably not. She's super unrealistic as a character but that what makes her great, S tier waifu. Getting back to Miku, she's the opposite of Nino, she never does anything like that and always stays in her comfort zone unlike all the other quints, until the movie finale equivalent of the manga, which is when her character takes a turn for the worst, I won't say why because it could spoil things for people who haven't read or finished the manga, but yeah. Miku's cute, she's innocent, she's got that smile you must protect, but even so, she's not a great character, not like Nino. Ever since panel 1 to the very last chapter in the manga she's always been right in the middle on the quints tier list for me But none of this matters anyways right? This is why Itsuki is best girl and your opinion is wrong👀  |
