the title of this episode makes me uneasy...

going downhill is a new challenge on its own. megane kun really showed out and im proud. those blood soaked sneakers really said it all.

nico chan did his best too T~T really super proud of all of them
letting go of running after this race even though he still loves it is so meaningful and makes his finish all the more emotional. him coughin up blood aint a good sign but im glad he gave it his absolute all until the very end so he would have no regrets going forward and so that he can move on. i'm glad they finally showed us a clip of young nico chan and why he wanted to run so badly

I was tearing up so hard. I have such a soft spot for Yuki & Nico. They are such relatable characters. That was beautiful how they fleshed out their back stories. Even that short bit showing Yuki’s family supporting & cheering him on & that brief flashback of how Yuki’s mum broke the news of her forming a new family to him. It was so brief & subtle, but conveyed so much. And Nico’s past with his passion for running & then giving up on himself, having now reignited his passion & putting so much love into it. They are so inspiring. These Hakone episodes are really solidifying this anime for me. So much subtleties & nuances but so perfectly conveyed.

There’s no such thing as an easy path. I knew that when I made my decision
