Watching both, I see many errors in the many criticisms of what people say.
Citrus is an anime that was biased from the start, manga readers feared that the anime adaption would be terrible.
For people who havent watched one or both of the animes, I would like to add that please do not have these ideas of criticism when watching the animes AT ALL. Watch them open minded and whole heartedly. These criticisms will make them ruin your perspective and view as you watch them. Enjoy both completely, never compare.
I can bet that many people who put their opinions in this post have 1. Not even watched Citrus completely, or 2. Watched it, but with a very biased and closed mindset, which lead to people not letting themselves like it as much as they could have.
The Citrus anime adaption is a little different from the Manga, but in my opinion is a great anime nonetheless. Bloom is a great anime also.
What people say constantly is that Citrus is garbage and that it is made for pervs and has bad animation, background, plot etc. I personally think that is all biased and unreasonable.
It is true that Citrus and Bloom is comparing apples and oranges. They should be kept separate and loved in their own respected ways.
Here are some things that I read on this post that I would like to respond to.
1. The idea that Citrus is fan service or for pervs.
Not even close. It had more of a romantic impact than a lewd one. The heated scenes (There wasn't even a lot, don't believe the people exaggerating their hatred on the anime) were to make you THINK about morality and the characters thoughts and feelings, not made to have people get viewers and all that. It shows the forces and effects of love, and questions lust. It delves deep into questioning feelings and wondering about the truth.
2. The idea that Citrus' plot was trash, was too forced. and that the characters were useless or uninteresting.
Completely false, the plot was good. What kind of plot do you expect? something fantasy and out of this world? This is a shoujo-ai, many may share the same SETTING but in the end they are all very different. The side characters make the main characters and audience feel strong emotions. They all challenged the main characters feelings and thoughts, even the side characters were very dynamic in their feelings and attitude. I think that the whole anime has a theme of "change."
3, The idea that one anime is more realistic from the other.
Absolutely disappointing. Bloom was not realistic, and nor was Citrus. They both presented the approach of "at the right place at the right time," proof is shown in the very first episode of each anime. They are both very fantastical and came on very strong. To make it simpler, expect hand grabs and pulling characters close to their faces in both of the animes.
Bloom is a beautiful anime, absolutely wondrous, romantic, and unique. But Citrus was that also, in its own style.
The hate between both is uncanny and unreasonable. They both are so great. I only focused on Citrus here since of its overwhelming backlash which in turn makes it viewed with a bias when people complain about it to people who havent seen it.
Anime watchers these days think theyre all hardcore critics. Its been proven that biased views lead to biased results. As proved by the wine tasting experiment.
People forget that anime is about how it makes you think and how it makes you feel. Stop trying to compare animes. Theyre not meant to be compared and rated, theyre meant to be watched and invoke feelings.
I made this Animelist account just to save those people who will percieve both animes with a biased view. PLEASE DO NOT WATCHED THEM WITH THESE "CRITICS" IN MIND. |
