Here is my own personal view on why I am so disappointed with this show: I saw the trailer for this last year and the impression I got from it was that it was going to deliver a somewhat profound war drama even if it has moe character designs. The music, the captions, the montage of the art in the show was telling me that it wasn't going to be super happy. But what did I get for the last 10 episodes? A story about a bunch of little girls living it out in some quaint little town making friends. The "drama" has yet to fully surface at all. The only episode that it remotely even showed off anything about the "war" was in episode 7 with Felicia's flashback. I was not expecting massive gore, massive action, but I was expecting a war drama, which this show has failed to deliver so far. If the trailer had instead showed a more slice of life approach with cheery music, then maybe I would see this show for what it is and then be relatively excited and surprised at the finale if it so chooses a dramatic end but no, I did not get what I was expecting from it. And this show suffers from generic storyboard flow like most other shows of this length. Over half the show is nothing but the characters living out life with absolutely nothing going on with a poor amount of character development going on and then a rushed ending. |

| I loved this episode! For me it was pretty good - BGM and background designs - and the end was beautiful, I was looking for some anime like this for a long time, I hope the series end well though. SnW fooled everyone's expectations, it was not a K-ON! remake, nor a full war anime or a complete slice of life neither, the anime shows its story into his own way, that's what I think now, and I liking it now. |

| Ok, here is what is going to happen. New femal character introduced. Rio marries the evil fat emperor in Roma. In a fit of drunken rage said Emperor attacks Rio and in the ensuing fight they both die. The Emperor's evil son (they are all evil don't you know) decides that it is all Rio's peoples fault and launches the attack. General warfare ensues. Episode 12 will show the tank completed and they girls (plus the new one, minus Rio) will gallently and or heroically (sp?) hold off the enemy sneak attack that will some how come out of the waste land thus helping the main army defeat the Roma army. At the very end of the battle all the girls except Kanata will die. End of the episode. Episode 13 flash forward several years. Kanata is still stationed in the town and working on the damaged tank. New recruits show up. We also find out that the evil son of the Emperor died in the final battle, the good son took over and the war ended. Bets anyone? |

I think that the reason im enjoying this show is that I came in with absolutely no expectations of anything and thus really dont care what happens as long as it is somewhat enjoyable as for genres all I can pick out are moe/light drama/military life/Idealism. its not a clear picture of anyone of those genres so it will only be enjoyed by a very small portion of anime fandom. |

| Again a slow-paced episode that's quite touching at the end. This show's pacing is quite a problem imo since it only has 13 episodes. If it spans over 2 seasons then I'd understand all this character development but if it isn't the case then I expect either a rushed ending or an insignificant one. |

| So, I knew Rio was Iliya’s sister, well, half-sister. And I guess she left because she’s going to marry the Emperor of that Roma for the sake of stopping the war thus saving everyone. I really hope otherwise, I would want another kind of ending, one less predictable, and if there’s drama, it’ll be even better… And since Takemikazuchi is rebuilt with the missing pieces… Other than that, I felt the episode somewhat empty. |

| I don't know what's happening, but when i saw that old hag i thought: "Would be cool if she died." And she did, so I'm pretty happy about this episode. Also nice to see that they are runing out of money for animation and simply using static pictures. |
| Another really good episode and sad distraction from the normal moe~ I am really hoping that Rio makes a big comeback at the end but... I think they would like to torture us by not doing this or even killing one of the girls, I know it is completely impossible I know but still I am getting used to being lured in by Kanata doing something to let your guard down then going in for the kill XD Love it but it's not fair how many times they try not make you cry for what is supposed to a light hearted anime ^^ |

| Kind of suspected this, but a nice turn of events nevertheless. It was sad to see her gone. So she is probably gonna marry the emperor? I hope not. I'm hoping for something like this: Rio goes there, she is taken hostage and the Roman army still moves on (or not, it's optional). The girls go and get her back with the help of the Takemikazuchi. Or everything's fine really, I just hope it will include some kind of a serious plot and at least a bit of action :) |

While I am enjoying the show, I see pages worth of people complaining about how disappointed they are that character X didn't die or how absurd it is that character Y was wearing Z. I was seriously starting to question my own tastes and wonder if I should like this anime, but then I clicked "view results" on the poll. Over 80% of voters rated it 4 or 5. Vocal minorities suck. |

Thanks for pointing this out, and yes they do. This was probably the best episode of the series so far. Everyone in this thread wanting the characters to suddenly run to front lines and die to create drama are insane. This show would honestly be terrible if it started killing of its cast left and right. This is a slow-paced slice-of-life/drama along the lines of Haibane Renmei, not a fast-paced action-thriller series like Attack on Titan. Learn to set your expectations people. This series might not have enough time left to start up a full plot, but if the last two episodes are like this, it could yet be a great series. The animation felt a little lazy at times during this episode, and I'd like to know what exactly happened to that old lady, but this was otherwise a great episode with some interesting character exploration. Good drama set in an interesting world is all this series ever needed. |

| So the old lady died by following the light which was supposed to be her lover coming back for her or she died by seeing the light and her spirit walks along with her lover's spirit along the snow. I'll just assume that she fell off a cliff trying to follow that light. I liked this episode too but the episode was 70% old lady and how she longed to see her son come back(which I guess is the illegitimate child she bore to that guy) and the part where she dies and her young self is whisked away by the guy's spirit and 30% Rio talking to Kanata that she's also an illegitimate child due to having Iliya as her half-sister and with barely any explanation except "Amazing Grace" was played and the part which Rio gave Kanata her trumpet and Kureha bawling cuz Rio is leaving. Could have been more balanced like 40/60 instead first 18 minutes old lady and last 5 minutes or so Rio and her sudden departure but I like the episode nonetheless. |
