An actual funny episode so far. Kawafuji is still an asshole, but a likeable one. Some of the scenes were funny but hopefully it doesn't get old like Sakamoto.

The episode was very good. Handa-kun is so badass despite himself xD. The part with the pencil lead in the eraser was hilarious. Kawafuji totally traumatized Handa, but I can't hate him because it's very funny .

Also, why is this series even tied to Barakamon at all? The main character could be anyone! The Calligraphy thing is barely addressed here and Handa's only development so far is that he misreads situations. They just as easily could have made this a new series with a different main character. Why Handa? It makes no sense!

Well, may be, if you'll actually try to read Barakamon, you would understand. 'Cause the anime was nothing like a manga.
Why comparing something that non-comparable?!
Manga Handa-kun is the prequel to Barakamon-manga. Barakamon-anime has nothing to do with anime Handa-kun. And it is something that even little children should understand.

I wish misunderstandings could work in my favour. A series of misunderstandings and rumours can elevate a simple schoolboy to some heavenly idol level.

Maybe they just wanted to tap on the existing fan base. (But that might have backfired due to the higher expectations which made a pretty decent anime pale in comparison.)

According to your manga list, you haven't read Barakamon or Handa-Kun. Care to explain yourself? Because it appears you are talking completely out of your ass.

I think that all the Barakamon anime drama hog fans should shut up.
This title here is only comedy, deal with it!

The only thing you are realy missing is your favorite cheap melodrama...high expectations my but.

I don't really understand why people can't separate this series from Barakamon... yeah, Barakamon was excellent and had a completely different vibe than this, but that doesn't seem like a good enough reason to dismiss the series as a whole. Maybe if you were literally expecting a Barakamon clone this series would seem like a pretty big step down, but I still think that Handa-kun is decent enough to be appreciated for what it is. I haven't read the manga, but at the very least I feel like the use of situational humor and wide variety of misunderstandings stand on their own and make it a humorous and enjoyable experience. Unless people actually just think this show sucks, I feel like some viewers may be letting their expectations and high regard for Barakamon deter them from evaluating the series as a separate entity.

LOL so that is why Handa is afraid of girls and also avoids having friends because he don't want to give them a hard time!
LOL so many misunderstandings especially to Tsutsui Akane!
5/5.

Even if you do separate them, Handa-kun has been pretty mediocre so far.

I read too many manga in different languages. It'll be a pain to add them all. So I decided not to. But I can add Satsuki Yoshino's works to my list specially for you, my friend.

Akane has changed a lot since the time that picture was taken, and that was one heck of a backstory. The more feminine looking guys are usually really loved from what I've seen, though I guess I haven't seen many. We get more really stupid misunderstandings, and my God, the rumors about Handa are freaking crazy.

I might end up droping this one soon, it's okay, but it's really nothing special, and I feel my time is better spent else where.

I've been reading the comments on connecting Handa-kun and BARAKAMON and dropping the series. It baffles me.

It exceeds my expectation on what I read on manga.
So far, I'm enjoying the series as what I did on BARAKAMON.

Okay... back on the thread topic:

Akane just got too much puberty on that "fitness belt" that cracked me up so much! xD

I love how they made the cooking class scene even more funnier on Anime than on Manga

Now we know where Handa-kun got his anti-social barrier thanks to Kawafuji :P

As far as Im concerned, I'll continue this series anyway :P

Well any hopes of Barakamon relevence was dashed in the first episode.
Since then I've enjoyed this as a comedy. It's actually not that bad.
Just think of it like CLAMP where they reuse characters in a different setting. -shrug-

Normal guy is the best. xD

It was funny when Akane was thinking how he wants to be a friend with Handa while making hella scary faces tho' poor Handa thought he has done something XD

I usually prefer the tough character over the wimpy ones but in this case, blondie is better off in his bitch beta mode. He looks like a generic Anime punk now with his appearance.

All of these "misunderstandings" of how strong Handa is reminds me History's Strongest Disciple: Kenichi where people underestimated him and Kenichi himself doubted his own abilities but he was truly strong. Handa has no such strength, it's just a cheap swing at comedy.

Jesus Fucking Christ, I can't understand the point of Handa's gay fanboys hanging around him waiting to suck his cock.

I actually laughed harder than I should have. The first two parts were good but what I actually loved was the third one! Handa-kun trying his best to hide from everyone, that was hilarious! XD

Lel the way Handa just keeps misunderstanding everyone is funny. But it has something to do with his past?

They should have made the girly boy a punk but didn't changed his appearance.

I feel sorry for Handa-kun haha.
So it was his friend's fault

Handa just hiding constantly... Hopefully every misunderstanding of his personality gets cleared up eventually, would be a little saddening if it continues like this forever.

ah finally this one was somewhat decent, I was getting ready to drop cause the comedy wasn't landing at all for me..

The normal guy was the best one, can actually read the situations instead of being like everyone else with their nonsense and misunderstandings.

We'll see how the next episode goes
"In the past few months since we met, I've shared many memories with Nagato. Though I've also shared memories with Haruhi, Asahina-san and Koizumi, I found that I've experienced more events with Nagato in particular. In fact, every situation seems to involve her. I might as well mention this, she's probably the only person to cause the bell within me to shake the most vigorously..." ~ Kyon, TMOSH

Thought Handa will be like Sakamoto but it is beyond my expectation. 5 people with a bunch of problem gathered into cooking class and it's happened. Too much oil and the pan get burned people think it was flumbre or flambre I forgot, it was funny. And Handa is self-aware because of his mate in the same calligraphy class. Rip Handa

I hate Kawafuji.
Does he see his friend crying because he thought he was being excluded and does he find it funny?
With a friend like that it would be better to have an enemy.
