anime logic was strong this episode.. Akashi lets Kagami go through because he will potentially miss his meteor jam, instead of going for a layup or an easier shot since nobody will be able to defend him to the rim he goes for a meteor jam once more and misses.

He had two top tier guys standing right in between him and the ring. Not even zone Kagami would've been easily able to get past that -_-

So Rakuzan has its own Kuroko, who even looks like the real one. Wonder how Kuroko will cope with that.
I"m liking Akashi even more now. Love how he is not flashy like Kagami but still the final boss.
Great episode.

Akashi's speech to Kuroko was really chilling, I love his character.
Tbh Chihiro Mayuzumi is cuter, so he's a fave already

I lost it at "Akashi Penetrates!" I love how he hates being compared to in any way or form! XDDDD

I'm happy to see Kagami mature as a player after Mitobe's silent support. I feel like they (and the rest of Seirin) are underrated characters, just because they are not part of the GoM.

It was good seeing Mitobe on the team again, considering how he used to be a regular in S1 before Kiyoshi came back. I feel sorry for Tsuchida though, because he literally got no in-game screen time. Haha.

Hayama's lightning dribble was shockingly well done! I didn't realise he went up to 4 fingers already. I guess the anime must have cut the finger-counting monologue, because I don't recall seeing it till now.

I know a lot of people have started feeling pity for Mayuzumi already, and I feel the same, but I think that should be elaborated on when we get to the later episodes....

That aside, the pacing and animation in this episode is top notch. As far as adaptations go, this series ranks pretty high on my list.

Oh, yeah. I can't get enough of Reo-nee teasing Hyuuga-chan, and vice-versa! Keep it coming, boys!! XD

He was shown to use three fingers in his match against Shutoku

Overall great episode, I've notice that Chihiro resembles kuroko, I kinda understand how he has a the same power as Kuroko. Kagami going all out in the zone a bit reckless hay ho!!!

idk why they even animate akashi being surprised when he was passed by zone kagami if he actually let him pass on purpose.... for a moment there i really thought that he did break away from akashi's eyes but then you realise OH its akashi, you cant do anything..

It was kinda obvious that Mayuzumi would be the next phantom player, but I like where this is going. Hopefully Kuroko will show him who is the boss, I wonder how though. It won't be easy to become less visible after all.

And that guy of Rakuzan is using the tecnhiques of Kuroko... This is going to be very complicated for both teams.

Well, wasn't this a fantastic start for the final match!

I like that they changed things up by having Kogami start the game in the Zone. As much as I dislike the whole concept, having it here like this from the outset changes the formula for how things usually unfold in a typical game, thus making things a tad bit less predictable. Usually the Zone is a big deal saved for the later stages of a match: starting with it here is a nice change of pace and also reinforces the idea that this game is the Big One, since the usually OP Zone is just another playing "technique" here.

But the really good stuff lies with Kuroko. For a show ostensibly about him, KnB has at times treated Kuroko like a side character for long stretches of time, so that he's quite literally a phantom not just in-story but also in regards to the narrative. By focusing on Kuroko's loss of what makes him special, the show firmly moves the camera onto his own conflict, which in turn imbues the game with what feel like genuine stakes and suspense, and which cement its aura of significance. It's compelling to have the final game in the whole series have Kuroko lose his special ability, since that's what the show is built around, and was in fact its premise in the first place. Ir brings things full circle.

The presence of a player who is exactly like Kuroko (even down to his physical appearance...), no matter how ridiculous, is an effective way to drive the issue at hand home. Kuroko's defining feature has always been his ability to disappear, to be a 'shadow.' Kuroko, though, in order to really contribute to the game to compensate for people growing used to his tricks, pushed himself to become a more skilled player in other ways, whether that meant the Vanishing Drive or the Phantom Shot. The cruel irony is by doing so, he lost his trump card, rendering him a useless player when it comes down to it, since without his lack of presence he's a very mediocre player. Kuroko now feels useless, unneeded. The existence of someone who could so what he once could, but even better, confirms that Kuroko has been truly replaced. He's progressed so much on his journey to this point, and suddenly he's regressed beyond even square one, back to his middle school days, before the GoM. It really makes you feel for Kuroko, and sets the stage for his dramatic return.

Seirin will win, of course If this wasn't the final game maybe they'd lose, but since it is, they will win. Losing would be a validation of Akashi and his methods, which stand in direct opposition to everything KnB is about. I don't think the show would undermine its own themes so blatantly, and I trust the quality of the writing to not pull a shock ending at the risk of sacrificing the integrity of the narrative.

Really enjoyed this, looking forward to next week.

Couldn't agree more with everything you said! I love how Kuroko has become the main focus of this game.

My only problem with this episode (a small one) is Kagami's zone. I thought that the zone meant you were completely concentrated on basketball and everything else leaves your mind but Kagami is really in his own head a lot this episode. Kind of thought that should've instantly taken him out of the zone but wtv. Still an amazing episode

Simply fabulous
The way Akashi has mold a second Kuroko was even more genius than I've tought he would be
This also means he fears Seirin to utilize the trump card on this occasion

The Zone beats the Emperor Eye? Wait no, the Emperor Eye beats the Zone?
Guess Kagami's leaving the Zone for a bit.

Mitobe gets to show off his skills, but Mayuzumi shows off his, too.
Damn, another Misdirection user.
I’m always searching for something, for someone. This feeling has possessed me I think, from that day… That day when the stars came falling.

Kagami gets past Akashi in the zone. That was awesome *.* I'm sure he's gonna beat Akashi even more as the game progresses *.*
That thing with Kuroko's misdirection fading was interesting. Wonder how Seirin will deal with that Mayuzumi guy....
Anyway, looking forward to the next episode XD

In upcoming episodes I'd like to see Kuroko and/or Akashi in the zone. I'll be disappointed if that doesn't happen. It's also interesting to note that we haven't seen the Emperor Eye cause havoc for Kuroko's ankles - maybe that could be the key to winning.

Kuroko is useless right now, Rakuzan has a better version of him, and their plan in the 2nd quarter is to "trample" Seirin? Oh boy, this doesn't look good at all. I wonder how Kuroko's supposed to overcome his new presence.

Wow, even in the zone Kagami can't match Akashi any more! D:

Everyone can see Kuroko now because his moves are too flashy but even when he just passed that was quite flashy tbh.

Plus, Akashi turned another boy in to Kuroko #2! D:

LOL Chihiro is literally kuroko with white hair and different eyes.

Chihiro's abilities were obvious tbh.

Also just like akashi said, the original is better. Shame on you akashi for going back on your word.

really love how the game executed, really tense and fun game.

i knew that zone vs emperor eye will be in the match, but i didn't thought that's gonna be so soon.

i'm glad to see all seirin players giving them all, it's really give more depth to the game.

poor kuroko, not only to lose his "powers" by be replaced by model two, though i pretty expected from akashi to come up with it after seeing it's effectiveness in teiko.

Damn, even Zone Kagami ain't a match for the Emperor Eye.

This was another solid episode, the interactions between Seirin and Rakuzan players are hilarious.

As for Mayuzumi, two things are baffling

Why did he start against Shutoku and why was nobody asking questions regarding him before? His lack of presence must be really something xD

I know it's a bit too late, but Akashi is so over the top lol. Look dude you're playing high school basketball, so let the stakes be the way they should be.

First Akashi had the answer for the zone, and now even a Phantom sixth member.. there's no way out for Seirin.

RAKUZAN WHAT ARE THEY FEEDING YOU GUYS??? The game has turned for Rakuzan as they are starting to pull ahead. Kuroko has also lost his misdirection advantage as he's been pulling off more stunning and flashy moves and as such has had more eyes on him.

I'm hoping he regains his misdirections or adapts to this.
