That wasn't a good watch for me, seeing Rika dying that often hurt me.
It was a bit sad that these 4 bad loops were really rushed and only focused on showing us the poor girls suffering, instead of giving a context, explanation or a hint.
I liked how the old Higurashi was more subtle instead of the "in your face" violence.

Maybe this all leads to Rika becoming the demon lord or so XD Being in Rika's shoes I would murder the whole lot of this stupid village and set everything on fire already.

The interesting thing will be after Rika stops getting herself killed over and over,
someone must be behind this senseless butchering.

Im not usually the type who get scared but this episode creeped me out. Though i felt like all the horror stuff was kinda pointless or just for "the show".

Never ever i thought that we would go from 5 to 1 lifes in a single episode, what a sad episode this was...damn. Rika's suffering so much yet no one can help her.

It worries me tho how this might end. Also, one thing this episode made me sure, that no matter what happens, the Japanese police won't come to save you and stay outside the home while negotiating with the killer.

Oh, why did Mion-chan had to die in such a brutal way again. She is my favourite anime character, but in this seasons she seems to get killed the most of all in the most brutal ways!

Twas a bit funny seeing her die so many times, especially when she was getting annoyed while being tortured and would rather die off already. I wanted to shed a tear of joy to see such mental mind break.

Behold of my awesomeness~

I want to try "tsubame gaeshi" but unfortunately, I don't have mahjong tiles.

Holly shit! When Rika just suddenly appeared bloody with her eyes opened wide, that scared the hell out of me.

She got him back. If you understand the characters well enough, you'd know she did!

This episode was actually rather decent. Not sure I'd call it good though; as others have said, the direction and animation were... well, atrocious, and some of the scenes ended up being a bit hard to take seriously due to that. However, it did keep my attention, and at least now the plot has some semblance of direction (like, now it seems to be going somewhere, rather than just meandering like it has been for the majority of the last 14 episodes).
I am wondering what the point of it all is though, since Rika has already had this character arc of being disheartened then regaining her determination (which I presume will happen, since it's the logical next step).

what the fuckk???

so they did a speedrun of the 4 loops. one more... man this has got to be one of the most gruesome episode in higurashi. Did not expect that at all. What was the point of censoring ep 4 when they would legit show Mion and Rika's head fall off.
And just like that another week.

Was surprised as well, extremely graphic, and keep on the edge, but I also laughed quite a bit tbh, due to the absurdity of it all, with that said, just from watching the beginning of the next episode, it was already by far more graphic...
They took their time, but so far Gou is going to even more extreme lengths.

Not gonna lie, that super sudden switch from the wholesome conversation between Rika and Akasaka to her laying on the ground with the cicadas crying was done very well, it actually made me jump and feel kinda disturbed for a second, and it genuinely overstepped my expectations for the first time (which is what I think they've been trying to do this whole time with the very similar arcs to the OG but with twists at the end). The way Rena and Rika's eyes popped out when their heads were hit was also animated very well, I enjoyed that. But the rest... was kinda funny ngl. Especially Akasaka going crazy, I couldn't help but laugh out loud oops
Seeing Akasaka and Kimiyoshi like that must have been especially upsetting for Rika. This has already been speculated but I think this truly may be

I really want to know how/why Akasaka, Akane, Kimiyoshi and Ooishi got to L5, and where they all got their information from about Rika being the source of everything. Something is definitely VERY different in the background that we don't know about yet, because seeing them take on these roles is obviously very very odd. I'm conflicted on whether or not it was a good idea to jam 4 arcs into 1 episode, obviously this means that the depth is lost, but the shock factor may have made it worth it, particularly for the newcomers. And it seems like we're going to be focusing on the effects and aftermath of Rika failing these last 5 times, so I guess the actual failures aren't really that significant, other than the gory end of each one. Looking forward to reading the theories now.

Damn! What the heck?? Four brutalities wrapped up in one episode.

The appearance of Akasaka usually gives hope, but not this time. I was totally shocked by the transitiion of Rika's hopeful face to bloody appearance on her house floor.

It's all became more random. Akasaka Mamoru, Sonozaki Akane, Kimiyoshi Kiichiro, then Maebara Keiichi again, all of them fell victim to the syndrome, each with their own set of delusions. I wonder what triggered their syndrome, what went on in their heads.

Rika's limited 5 attempts deplete rapidly. The next episode would be her last try, before she decide to kill herself.

One new thing that we learn: Rika is currently enrolled in St. Lucia's Academy when the tragedies struck again.

Damn! Watching this episode tired me out very much.

Disturbing imagery with the eyes just popping out like that when their heads get smashed in.

So this is what happens when Rika tries to solve the problem on her own. Everything can break loose even before June 22 deadline. She really needs Keiichi & the gang for the perfect ending.

I wonder what flag she triggered to make Keiichi go insane so early. I wish that playthrough was expanded. Isn't Keiichi the secondary protagonist and he only goes bonkers once everyone is dead?

first of all, what the fuck??

secondly, WHAT THE FUCK???

jesus... I don't think I'm fond of how all of this gore and violence just suddenly explodes in your face with no explanation, context, whatsoever. it's so different from the original anime, where there was actually build-up and development, and the cruel scenes felt like they were more nuanced than whatever this is...
honestly didn't want to continue from the last episode, but I just can't keep myself hanging so I'll just grit my teeth and bear through it waiting for this to end, much like rika....

also fuck I'm so sad over seeing akasaka succumb... he was my favorite character in kai. feels like this whole anime's purpose was to ruin all the characters you believed to be "good" in the original arcs... (this is probably the part where I start to convince myself that gou doesn't exist...)

Idk what to feel about the ending of kai being "you can defy fate!!!" and this series being like "no matter what you do you will be back, there is no escape", super depressing for no reason

First Oishi, now Akasaka being ruined. Terrible.

This is a bastardization of Ryukishi07's work
