Gabi is fucked up, I am telling you. There is nothing that justifies her behaviour anymore. Nothing is justified at this point. She needs to use the remaining parts of her brain to accept the truth that has been in front of her the whole time, instead of denying it by coming up with bullshit arguments.

People say she is brainwashed by Marley propaganda, but we still have characters like Falco from Marley that actually have brains for a change. Falco is quick to understand the whole situation, but Gabi is well and truly fucked up, both mentally and emotionally. She is purely a hateful character.

Great episode but i don't get how falco is more mature than gabi(i believe they are almost same age), unless she is brain washed so hard that she can't think anymore. Yeah it's frustrating to watch now but i have faith that payoff will be good.

She's probably more brainwashed because of Aunt Karina's influence...sKarina (Reiner's mom) is hardcore into the belief that Paradisians are devils. I can imagine her constantly reminding Gabi about that, like she did during the episode 2 dinner scene.

Falco's uncle was a restorationist, so I'd imagine his family wasn't wholeheartedly on board with that sort of thinking...Falco only became a warrior to convince Marley that their family was loyal, while Gabi was super hyped about becoming a warrior.

Remember that Falco’s uncle was an eldian restorationist while Gaby was raised in a family of fanatics, just remember what Reiner’s mom did to him.

A great episode. Really loved the backgrounds and performance of the VAs.

With the current pacing, I'm guessing the season would end on Ch 116. However, I really wish it would end on chapter 119, it would be extremely epic and a great cliffhanger.

That doesn't matter. Just because he is Falco's uncle doesn't mean everybody in his family thinks the same. Some of the restorationists surely had families who were against their way of thinking, but they couldn't do anything. Zeke and Grisha are an example of this.

Again, the issue concerning Gaby and her family doesn't explain her current behaviour. No matter what, she is blind to the truth in front of her, and that makes her a person to despise.

Sasha has more influence on the plot while she is dead than when she was alive. I love that her that actually served a purpose and wasn't for shock value.

OH MY GOD THEY WENT TO SASHA'S HOUSE I ACTUALLY GASPED and what was that about a south marleyan accent omg what

i miss sasha sm, kaya talking about her at the end genuinely made me tear up

gabi is really annoying me now..... i understand that she is totally brainwashed but she really cannot even begin to consider the fact that there are good innocent people on paradis too. come on come on team falco

and mikasa's headache scene was interesting, i liked seeing that perspective of eren saving her and how she was actually pretty terrified

also i kind of love how characters that appeared in earlier seasons that we never gave a second thought to are coming back - i.e. louise and kaya. it's just another reminder of how interlinked everyone is and how important every event is

ahhhh that cliffhanger! i love it and i can't wait for next week already :)))

also i love hange <3

Very important episode showing Falco and Gabi, mostly Gabi, kesneijg about the opposite side's point of view on the whole conflict with Paradise being at its center.

Kaya is really a great person. Sasha's legacy lives within her.

My only complaint after rewatching was Omine’s directional decision to cut important dialogue in Hange’s and Floch’s conversation after Floch refers once again to the New Eldian Empire.

Hange “You mean the nation of Eldia. And this victory of ours has given every army in the world the most pressing reason possible to combine their forces to attack our tiny little island. Does that not endanger our right to live?”

Flochad “It does if we can’t shake the earth. We never could have survived without power in the first place. Not on this tiny island.”

I agree with this. That conversation was important to reaffirm the consequences of Eren's actions and how it could have potentially go a different way, from Hange's point of view, and at the same time represent the yeagerist belief that this was the only reliable way. Given how crucial these matters are gonna be later on i think they could have chosen something else to cut rather than those lines.

Yep. As much as I would've loved to see her still alive, her death wasn't in vain, quite the opposite in fact.

Wow, a fairly decent episode production-wise!
If all episodes with Gabi are going to get at least this level of treatment, I agree to have more of Gabi. Still not sure if there's enough Gabi for the 5 episodes to come. And I think pacing was very nice this time.

Voice acting was fantastic imo.

Kudoz to Isayama for the plot, I personally think that the Kaya/Falco/Gabi dialogue is the heart of the moral message of the manga and I like it a lot. I really think Isayama is optimistic about the people's ability to live peacefully together even if he has no illusions about human nature. This is the reason I have never found AOT truly depressing. Whatever shit happens, there's still some - not hope, because the perspectives usually look quite dismal for everyone - some humanity left in some of the characters even when logically there should be none.

Both Paradis and Marley distrust Zeke, but nah, I don't feel bad for him. Let him suffer (not that he gives a shit about their opinions, but still).

I hate Floch, but what a fantastic character he is, mmm. Now he's the noble hero suffering for Paradis's freedom, oh poor thing. I'm going to cry my eyes out (no).

I have almost forgotten this Louise from manga, but she had quite an interesting episode with Mikasa. I'm glad this was included.

Overall, a surprisingly good episode.

Definitely the best looking episode.
Great voice acting.
Music was very tense in the Kaya, Gabi and Falco convo.

Had a feeling anime only action heads would criticize the slow start to this arc because there isn't any action and can't understand what plot and character development is. It's quite sad reading some of their comments.

Good episode, looks like this season is gonna end at 116.

Yeah, unless you have a single-digit IQ, it's not difficult to conclude Kaya was the girl who was saved by her, so the change in dialogue doesn't really matter.

These episodes have heavy emotional complexity and the dialogues are the one of the greatest aspects of this arc actually, I am totally fine with ending this season at 116 if we are going to have a faithful pacing in this arc because this arc is absolutely worth it how have we ever thought that this part will end at 122? If this had been the case, they would have butchered a great amount of the dialogue and the tone of this arc.
After all, if we should praise Mappa for something actually, it must be the faithful adaptation it has been doing till now "Except for maybe episode 3".
Aside from that, this episode had outstanding visuals and the va really delivered greatly.

But I can't believe they didn't play YouSeeBIGGIRL in the post-credits scene.

Gabi's getting portrayed far better in the anime than she ever did in the manga. I was really apathetic towards her character before, but her VA is absolutely killing it this season. MAPPA have done her character good.

Yes, I have to admit this too. I never hated Gabi for killing Sasha, but she was a nuisance to me in the manga. I mean, give me Levi and Hange and Jean and even that bastard Floch, but I couldn't care less for the miserable brainwashed kids. I am really much more interested in Gabi now. It is much easier to put myself in her shoes and to imagine the physical disgust she was feeling when a "devil" touched her or gave her food.
And Falco is pure gold of course. He's so sane that he will soon beat Jean in his ability to keep the head on his shoulder.

Ok here are my thoughts on this episode:

The visuals looked fantastic and those backgrounds are amazing.
There were some very smoothly animated moments in this episode, it seems as though MAPPA loves their Gabi sakuga.

As far as direction goes, hats off to Omine once again. He elevated this part of the source material very well (which I originally found uninteresting compared to most other parts of the manga). Btw that flashback scene with Mikasa getting saved by Eren was lovely.

The voice actors popped off again. They are doing really well in bringing these characters to life.

The pacing was exceptional as well, but it still felt like a lot of info was present which just goes to show you that the source material had really fast pacing anyway.

The dialogue between Kaya and Gabi was so intense. I'm finding both their characters to be more interesting in the anime.

I also liked the OST selections for this episode.

My only complaint is the same as others in that some meaningful dialogue between Floch and Hange was over-simplified and it is subtle things like these that make actions in the future more meaningful.

5/5 episode. Really enjoyed it. If the rest of the episodes get this treatment I'll have a hard time considering this part of the series to not be a masterpiece.

I thought about that. I think that was a mistake from Isayama, for Kaya to say that. Because Gabi knows the name sasha, Jean said it in her presence. Then Gabi would have put 2 and 2 together, and would have figured it out. This is my take on that. Maybe even Isayama himself asked for the line to be removed

The way Gabi escaped was probably the most retarded scene I've seen in this show. "The girl that murdered on of our elite scouts in cold blood is held here, let's just allow her room to have items that can be used as weapons, I'm sure it'll be fine. What? She's acting weird in her cell and I'm a trained soldier, so i shouldn't be acting like a complete moron? I'm sure she's not plotting anything.

I really hate Gabi. I know she's been indoctrinated her whole life, but still...
I see similarities to young Eren, but it's like you took all his worst qualities and amplified them to the max. I really hope she gets capped, but i suspect they will redeem her somehow.

Either Mikasa is looking less like a dude in this ep, or I'm getting used to it.

I hate Gabi, ngl, being easily manipulated by the govern and all that shit is literally the lowest a person can get, really happy that Kaya is getting some facts into her fuckin rock head, loved Falco also.

Kaya gave a very good insight to gabi in terms of the complexity of war that's being faced by both sides. Causalities cannot be biased. Gabi was shown that but still chooses not to believe it

I feel like it would be talk no jutsu for her to change the mindset she's had for 10 or more years, from toddler to pre-teen....switching her philosophy based on 1-2 conservations over the span of a coupe of days.

Was hoping the horse raped gabi but at the same time she is too good of a antagonist and I really wonder how or what she will decide for her future.

Behold of my awesomeness~
controversial and/or sensitive topics likely devolve into the same repetitive, derogatory, abusive, and harassing comments can no longer be posted.
But my feels.

great episode, you can clearly tell where gabis character is going. and that convosation between gabi and kaya was intense. sad to see some people cant appreciate her just because of circumstances that makes sense to her character and to the story.

Gabi reminds me of a dirty leftist. Blaming descendants for something their ancestors did. Probably no historical perspective for what other cultures did either, just like real life.
