Great episode...
Saber bondage ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ended unfortunately :(
Caster and Kuzuki got rekt, kinda felt bad for Caster, started to like her.
Lancer OP AF...Archer pullin' tricky shit.
Can't wait to see how this will unfoil.

Then why didn't he check up on Rin and Shirou?

All that talk about wanting a master like Rin, liking how straight forward Shirou and enjoying working with the two of them and he leaves after not killing Archer.

You would think forming a temporary alliance with two people, would entail that both you keep the parties involved in the alliance alive.

He understood Archer went to kill Caster.
If Caster is dead, they didn't need him.
He didn't know, Archer want to kill Shirou.

So let me get this straight.

Archer lied and betrayed Rin to go work under Castor. Him and Lancer go fight to the death. Lancer is on the verge of killing him and he says that losing Caster's watchful eye was his plan all along. Archer already hates the guy and the guy is traitor in the eyes of him, why would he take his word so easily?

Also, if the plan was to kill Caster, why not check up on Shirou and Rin to see if they are still alive? As you said, if Archer still wants to kill Shirou but this would not have happened if Lancer checked up on them. It also ensures that Archer kept his word and went after Caster.

Not a bad ep.
The Kuzuki flashback wasn't bad per se, but it kind of felt half done. It's like they only took random parts of the scene from F/HA and changed it around a bit.
Shirou actually thought about what he was doing for once here so that's something.
Lmao now I can't help but notice things like Shirou standing up and falling thanks subforum.

Gae Bolg vs Rho Aias looked quite nice, I enjoyed that. Still, Archer should've been a bit more challenged by Gae Bolg/not as calm as he was here. And I think I prefer Prillya's portrayal of Rho Aias, the literal 7 shields thing looked a bit...off. Decent fight nonetheless, if a bit too short. It also actually had some choreography so yeah. That was probably the best thing in here.

Rin vs Caster's fight was well handled too, I think. Kuzuki vs Shirou not so much but it was still mostly alright.

The changing of the trace on scene to not have the swords above Kuzuki already was a bit weird in that she could have command spelled Archer in the timeframe given here whereas in the original scene she didn't have the time to do that. Nevertheless the moment itself was decently handled. I'm not certain how well it got across Caster's wish, though.

If she was at 0, she would've disappeared. :P

She's around about 30? 50? She pushed Shirou pretty hard(in VN) she must've used quite some prana.

Also IA doesn't rely on prana(I think?). It's spell put on the blade by a certain futa creating maguc, the elementals create the wind illusion.

Lol, idk, askk Insert or Otou-san.

Because Lancer can't predict that, even the worst servant possible would still want to win/live.
Because if Archer kill Rin/Shirou duo, there's no more free master and he is masterless and lose the war.

But still, Archer want to kill Shirou and Lancer couldn't predict.

Lancer is a player through and through. So his words for Rin can be only taken on face value.Yes,he values loyalty but in the end his ultimate loyalty lies to his own master whose appearance will make a lot more sense later on.Basically,in the previous ep,he promised Rin that he will make Archer beg for forgiveness and in this one, he literally wipes the floor with him here. When he realizes that Archer had a plan all along, even though he hates his guts he realizes Archer might just go back to Rin.It was more of a calculation mistake on his part.

I don't buy it. Rin told the guy he might be fighting three servants at the same time and he wasn't much bothered by it.

Archer betrayed Rin, then betrayed Caster all to get back to Rin. This is clearly not someone to be trusted and for him to put his faith in him is pure idiocy.

This just seems like a "we could be logical or we could make Archer do something in the series and kill a character with a move he never once used in the show. Sounds legit."

Those aren't names of the stones, they are incantations to cast various effects. Most of the stones are just prana stores and only some have a preset effect. So yes.

It is not names of stones, but of spells. Spells are activated by chanting. Stones themselves are nothing more than batteries.

Your average present day magus needs incantations to "channel" the power into the form they want. It is a form of self-suggestion because doing magic is incredibly hard.

Only someone as old as caster can just pretty much spam them without words or incantations, because the magic in her times was a lot more advanced, to the point that anything Rin has looks like a childsplay to Caster.

If anime bothered to explain magic we would know that.

Because, Archer is now masterless without a master for a long time, he will die.
So Lancer couldn't think that Archer would want to kill the two last master without a servant.
