So Kong won after all. Tsukimoto had him on the ropes though! Awesome match and great episode.

To think Smile vs China would come this soon and would be as fun of a watch as it was, and as someone who knows nothing about the rules of ping pong, how did China win 2-2? Or did they skip showing that part and he won 3-2? Im slightly confused, but mostly entertained

İ have same question but no-one amswered

Kong won 3-2, they just didn't show the set scores and just showed an assortment of points from the 4th set and 5th set.

My man, Tsuda Kenjirou, only came in and got the role like that, Yuasa? Were you kidding me? Lol. I just came in there and be shocked when hearing his voices only to lost. Omg. Its funny, but still, his last sentence just too perfect and suited well with their current situations. Oh, well, once again, i can't hold my smile. Its too exaggeration, yet, i am satisfied enough with that.

Despite the supporting character had so much amusement, the plot wise of its story kinda surprised me too. They just move on to the inter-high competition too fast than i could imagine. Well, with their current pace, idk how well its end can be. Otherwise, i had enough satisfaction with its marvelous animation detailling every punch on their matches, once again. However, that robo guy, unfortunately just came back to his usual uninterested motivation to pity Kong. Oh, well, lets see how its effect his next life. Should it be good or not for him? And what happened to Peco after that? I just hope he lost too, so everything just came back to normal again. Lol. Lets see....

Wow... Smile threw the game because Wenge was getting grilled for losing. I wonder does winning really mean nothing to Smile, or would he rather just lose so he doesn't have to think about the consequences of the other guy losing.

Anyone who believes Kong won on merit needs to rewatch the episode.

Really beautifully crafted show so far, every scene is done with great resolve and meaning behind it.

Tsukimoto has so much potential but holds back by catering to others feelings because he doesn't put as much value on table tennis as others too (as he says). Kong's career and success rides on this tournament whereas for Smile, its just a beloved hobby that hes good at (maybe more?). The balance between doing what he wants for himself, being considerate to others, and trying his best is so interesting to see

He holds back for the sake of others, but is it really not at the expense of himself? of his own joy? of him possibly harnessing his own potential and really making use of it? is he scared that he might be in a situation like kong or let something like ping pong have control over his life? is he afraid to let it all out and for what, is it his own lack of drive for anything as life is just life or is it fear?

He might think he has nothing to lose or gain but why live life like that.

My god the new op visuals are just something else. Great episode. I know a lot of people says the charm of this show isn't the sport itself but the character and i can defenitely see that, but the matches were incredibly entertaining as well, would have never expected to be so much caught for a ping pong match lol if this keep going like this it could become my favorite Yuasa ez

that boy Wenge is the Vegeta of this series

I love that small meetup they had on the stairs when Smile passed him up .. you can sense Wenge's excitement "Things just got a lil more interesting!"

and poor Peco ... he has no idea he's actually the worse out of everybody here due to his lack of practice .. if only he practiced more .. he could put his money where his mouth is

Dragon spittin facts what he said to Smile "you care about your opponents feelings too much" .. that's what his coach is tryna drill in his head

and btw ,, the person in the red hat, shades, and glasses sitting on the sideline is Dragon's future girl .. she scouting ? or coming for support ?

Peco recognizing the inherent genius that is within Smile ... is that insecurity I sense in his words?

And I love the monologues of Smiles 1st opponent .. reminds me of the "cabbage man" from the Avatar series

and what a legendary battle between Wenge and Smile ..

that was the real Smile .. that is before he threw , concerning himself with his opponents feelings too much

I need that theme song humming version in the playlist

Amazing episode. So well directed. I love the quick cuts and slides, the humming coating the utter silence and tension of the game was brilliant. What a masterful episode.

3 episodes in and Kong already was about to lose. The entire episode is filled with the paneling style directing.

I definitely prefer some Ushio ost than the humming so that was kind of awkward.

This whole episode is really good, but can we talk about the part at the beginning where they make a beat out of the ping pong balls? Also, the close-up shots are kind of starting to grow on me

Damn, Smile is going to get an ear full for throwing the game to Wenge there. Still lots to be discovered in both their characters. I'm invested.

Took me three episodes to realize that this is by the same director that made Devilman Crybaby, another anime I watched recently. And yeah, I can see it. especially this episode in particular.

The idea of using that little hum that Smile does while he locked in, in that game was such a genius and greatly directed idea that only someday as talented as Masaaki could come up with. Though, in the end, it wasn't all for nothing, but he did lose in the end so. Still a beautiful episode nonetheless.

A frustrating ending. Tsukimoto's considerate attitude towards his opponent cost him the game, much to all observers' chagrin. I don't think Kong would be satisfied with this result; they would face off again in the finale I suppose.

Wow
the animation is so nice and the story being told is really involving, this was very nice but also very sad to see Tsukimoto losing
