Human born with emotion. It doesn't matter man or woman, everyone know how to cry.
Did you ever heard "Real Men Shed Tears" ?
YES!! I'M A REAL MAN!!! >_> *cough*
anyways, back to what I was going to post...
Once again, I loved this episode of Clannad! Poor Nagisa... I feel bad for her having to repeat her senior year without tomoya, plus the drama club has been disbanded because the advisor is retiring...
I was a little disappointed with the Botan scene... not because I didn't like it, it was hilarious, but because they left out the full part of it from the Visual Novel: Botan actually ends up farting and the whole class ends up thinking its Tomoya, who can't say it's the "doll", which ends up farting yet again, and eventually the teacher sends him to the bathroom... I cracked up at this part in the VN... Toilet-humor FTW!
I haven't seen anything in the After Story section of the VN (still not very far into the VN yet), so I'm hoping for some amazing episodes yet to come, as everyone says they are.
Episode rating: uhmm... there is no button for inifinity on this keyboard, so uhm... 5/5 I guess...
That was a pretty sad episode, especially since Nagisa reminded me of a friend I had, he was ill and it took him awhile to get through college but in the end he was able to pull it off, I hope the same happens in this.
yakyuu-addict said: The episode was good, not as good as other episodes, but still good. The birthday party and graduation moments were nice. At least Nagisa will go into this year having some friends unlike last year.
Loved the Botan doll part.
Thanks for reminding me! I wanted to point out that in the game, Botan lets out a fart during class and Tomoya is forced to take the fall for it! Here's the script:
Kyou: "We'll go with the 'stuffed toy.'" Botan: "Puhi~ Puhi~" Tomoya: "... what the hell is that...?" Kyou: "One of Botan's seven skills." Botan: "Puhi!" Kyou: "All right, Botan... go!" Botan: "Pu..."
The moment Kyou motions to him, Botan suddenly freezes up like a statue.
And then he stays like that, without a quiver...
It's as if he's no longer breathing, not even a wink. Tomoya: "... you don't mean... he's gonna stay frozen like a doll in class...?" Kyou: "Isn't it cool?" Tomoya: "Are you a dumbass?" Kyou: "Hah?" Tomoya: "You can't hope to keep him like that for 50 minutes, can you?" Kyou: "I can. I did forget about him one time when he sank underwater for 10 minutes straight."
That's animal cruelty... Ryou: "U-umm... if we don't hurry back to class... well... the Teacher will..." Kyou: "Oh, that's not good. The bell already rang, too." Tomoya: "Do you truly think that that stuffed animal disguise will be all right?" Kyou: "It'll be fine. If you're in doubt then, here!"
As she says that, she thrusts Botan into my chest. Tomoya: "...?" Kyou: "I'm handing him over to you." Tomoya: "Handing him over...?" Kyou: "You want proof that he can stay like that, right?" Kyou: "That's why I'm giving him to you. Put him on your lap while you're taking class." Tomoya: "Are you serious?" Kyou: "Have confidence in Botan and me." Tomoya: "........." Kyou: "Well then, I'm counting on you~" Tomoya: "... I'm only borrowing him for a bit."
My not so encouraging face says. Kyou: "Yeah, don't forget to give him back~"
Kyou says that, and immediately heads back to the school building.
I look at Botan's frozen face. Botan: "........." Tomoya: "........."
My face reflects in his round eyes.
And there... Tomoya: "Huu~"
I gently blow his eyes with a breathe. Botan: "........."
Seems his eyes are getting a little teary.
But it was so sudden that it doesn't look like he did it.
That's pretty impressive. Ryou: "Um... Okazaki-kun... we should also..." Tomoya: "Yeah, you're right."
I hold Botan for a while and went back to class with Fujibayashi. Teacher: "Okazaki, what exactly does coming to school mean to you?" Tomoya: "Leave me alone..." Teacher: "Really... if you just think about taking lessons every once in a while..."
The teacher grumbles as he turns to the blackboard.
I kind of understand what he wants to say...
The famous delinquent of this school, holding a stuffed pig toy in his lap as he takes lessons...
Is kind of funny in anyone's point of view...
Or maybe it's more like creepy.
I get the feeling that the people around me are keeping their distance. Male Student: "What's wrong with Okazaki?" Female Student: "Maybe he's kind of tired?" Male Student: "So, what is that, a pillow?" Female Student: "Whatever it is, it's still kinda freaky." Tomoya: "......... glare!"
I give a nasty glare at the people gossiping.
That Kyou... she probably gave Botan to me knowing this would happen...
Well, I should try and hang on for 30 more minutes... Teacher: "Well, if you use the formula a while ago, you'll get the value of 'x' and 'y.'"
Puuuuuuuu.
A strange noise came out and echoes through the class as soon as the Teacher stops talking...
And then a smell... Tomoya: "........."
Damn Botan... farting on someone else's lap like that...! Tomoya: "... huh?!"
Everyone's eyes came upon me! Tomoya: "N, no! It wasn't me!" Sunohara: "Don't make such poor excuse. It can't be helped if it wants to come out." Tomoya: "I told you it wasn't me..." Sunohara: "'Wasn't me?'" Tomoya: "........."
H-How should I say this...?
Is it okay to say that the stuffed animal farted?
No way in hell I can! Teacher: "Okazaki, if you have a stomach ache, you should go to the washroom." Tomoya: "... I guess I'll do that..."
Getting out of my seat, I hold on to Botan and leave through the door. Teacher: "You're taking the stuffed doll with you to the washroom?" Tomoya: "Leaving it alone is sad..."
I say that at the last moment as I grab onto him. Botan: "Pu... puhi..." Teacher: "Puhi?" Tomoya: "It's just me farting..." Teacher: "I see. Maybe you ate something bad during lunch." Tomoya: "........."
Rattle...
I say nothing as I leave the classroom.
As I do that, I hear laughter from inside.
Those were the original lines. They are good. On a different note I admitted i did cry a little..
Ahaha, I kinda wish that I hadn't seen the movie now. Even though I watched the movie and played the game, I bet that I'm still going to tear up during the episodes to come. And since Sylpheed told me to use the spoiler tag for people who haven't watched the movie...
hazelnutman said: Why is everyone assuming that this anime will end the same way the movie did?
Maybe KyoAni will decide to stick to the happier path.
Of course, I'm trying to be optimistic, holding back tears as i go.
Why must this anime make me so emotional ;_;. I mean, I must have shed tears at the end of every character story arc. Especially Fuko T_T
In my opinion, the sad ending is the best. It really does bring tears to anyone that watches it.
I love it when i clannad is released, I get all warm and fuzzy inside.
- Yay more Kyou!
- Yay Botan's doll trick! I lol'ed at this when it was done in Kyou's route in the clannad game, so it was great to see it animated.
THE END... man that was powerful. The music was so moving, the animation fantastic, the nagisa montage wonderful... it just works. there is nothing that flaws this anime when it is at its best, and the end was powerful and emotional. this anime better not end.
If all the spoilers I read thus far are correct, I think we will getting into the After Story part now. *sigh* More tear-jerking Clannad episodes to come, yay!
I liked this episode pretty much. Although Tomoya annoyed me from time to time (okay, your girlfriend can't graduate. Be glad you can, so you can get a good job and support her...), Nagisa was beyond cute, especially the times she wanted to hold hands with Tomoya.
uh oh...i sense imminent death flag :( i hope i'm wrong though. damn those flashbacks were sad. it's a good thing it was quick, or i would've cried in another clanad episoide yet again. actually i haven't just a couple of tears in most of the last es of each arc. but if this continues on...
i am a bit perplexed as to what the plot will be now that many of you say after story has just begun and the fact that there are still 15 episodes left. maybe half of that will explain that girl and junk character?(but im pretty bored with those segments :( ) i hope it still delivers a powerful ending like the first season
Does this mean we won't be seeing anymore of the rest of the girls? What, with all the graduating and goodbyes. Hopefully not, that'd be too sad T_T Besides, their still shown as main characters in the OP...
Either way, I loved this one. So sad...And finally they finally start to act like a couple! Took them long enough.
Please don't have the same ending as the movie, I beg of you.
I will seriously break down and cry if nagisa dies in the series like she did in the anime... maybe not so much if the two of them have a child like they did in the movie, idk - i havent even gotten to the point where the drama club is started in the VN x_x... btw, if someone could send me a PM with a yes or no as to if they have a child in the VN (like they did in the movie), that's one of very few spoilers I would really like to know instead of waiting to find out... don't ask why, I honestly am not sure myself XD... but please, send me a message, don't post it here in the forums - that's not nice for everyone else who wants to find out on their own (because even though I don't like spoilers... I just can't seem to keep away from those shiny, silvery "Spoiler" buttons.... hmmm... :D)
EDIT: yeah, after some thought after my current scene in the VN... I'm revising this decision... please don't spoil it for me XD I just got Tomoya to ask her to be his gf ^_^

Of course we will! It's just that the plot will focus more on Nagisa x Tomoya, while other characters would be degraded to the supporting ones... I think :P

despite the fact that nagisa is awesome... I think I could really enjoy a tomoyo x tomoya route (at least I've heard there is one... plus I've been told of a side project that KEY made for clannad called Tomoyo After, which is another Clannad VN... except it's Tomoyo and Tomoya... and it's an... H-game... so... I don't really feel the need to play that cuz it probably has no storyline, and nothing but "extreme fanservice"... that's just not worthy of Clannad imo...)
but that's highly unlikely... unless *begins to weep silently* nagisa does end up dying, and tomoya ends up with tomoyo at the very end... that, I doubt I could enjoy, however...

I found it beautiful (like whole Clannad), yet... Tomoyo and Tomoya just don't fit in my eyes. He is just fated to be with Nagisa only! (Tomoyo, go to hell!) ^^

Are you kidding me? I saw that thing called Clonnad. Just puked :D~~~~~~~~~~
I was like WTF is this porn? What is this? The story gets kind of like with real people of Clannad and then you know porn? WTF? Man Japan better stop making stupid anime imitations or adult stuff. It kind of gives a bad name to the anime. Right?
I deleted that crappy file and should not wasted my time for this but i was curious. Going back to the episode I can't wait to see the new appartment in #10 where Nagisa and Okazaki will live! :D :D
please report all angel999 duplicate accounts to the mods asap

Yes, I loved that OVA of the first season! but... yeah, I see what you mean with them not fitting together... but hey, watch what you say about my second favorite girl on clannad *growls* (Kotomi is #1 for me ^_^ she's smart, weird, and somewhat obnoxious... I can relate XD)
btw, just thought I would share this with everyone for no apparent reason other than the fact that it has become my #1 favorite scene in the Clannad Visual Novel up to the point that I have gotten:
PS. the response was "Please... take care of me..."
For the first time ever I liked Nagisa, and right when the main story final continues lol. I was sad at the quick animated and short Kyou scenes. Her saying move on made me really feel bad for her lol. Always love the soundtrack too.
swiftdeathsk said: but hey, watch what you say about my second favorite girl on clannad *growls* (Kotomi is #1 for me ^_^ she's smart, weird, and somewhat obnoxious... I can relate XD)
So you tell Tomoya x Kotomi would fit? No chances, at least in my opinion. It would seem to me as "retarded child's abuse" (while you're praising Kotomi, you actually have to admit she's behaving like a not-so-bright child; therefore she is not suitable to be engaged in any kind of "serious" relationship, for we don't know if she would be serious about it. If you watched Kanon [and I bet you did], you can compare her to younger version of Makoto short before you-know-what.). I don't mean any offence - they just don't fit together too :P
actually, i never meant to imply that i think tomoya x kotomi would work... i just meant that kotomi is my favorite character, with tomoyo being my second... and, sorry to the starfish fans, fuuko in dead last (she just annoys me... sorry if this offends anyone; and woop-de-friggin-doo, I'm about to start fuuko's arc in the VN x_x)...
kotomi would, despite the fact that I think she's awesome, definately need some "mental reconstruction" before actively engaging in a serious relationship... but she's not retarded -.- she just has a form of mental illness caused by her parent's death during her childhood (btw, I have a bunch of mental disorders, which could also be considered - in fact one is - a mental illness), she's basically surpressed part of her brain... at least this is how I have come to see it; this isn't exactly abnormal for something similar to this to happen in real life. It's a psychological thing, is what I'm saying. A self-defense mechanism...
Hmm... I should really consider taking Psychology in college XD I find this stuff enjoyable ^_^....
and actually, I'm only on ep 6 of Kanon... been focusing on my "main" anime (clannad and R+V, as well as Fate/Stay Night), and haven't watched the next ep yet. It's high on my list of things to do :P
Kotomi is also one of my favourites, though I can't stand her character (for I can't stand children in general ^^') Whatever the reason might be, you still have to admit she behaves like a small child - it might be because of her mental disorder, self-defense mechanism or something else; we can do nothing but speculate.
The only moment I enjoyed her behaviour was when Tomoya reminded himself of their common past - that's Kotomi I like and respect.

My deepest apologies for spoiling :S You'll soon find out what I meant.
And respect for FSN. ;) Although I find game much more enjoyable, the anime is still superb.

yes... i'm frantically awaiting my friend to upload his version of the FSN VN... cuz I can't get the 3rd disc to mount on my computer >_<... so he's going to upload his to his site so i can dl via FTP... but he lives in Australia, and the internet there is terrible according to him, and he gets capped and can't use the internet at speeds faster than 5 kbps once he's capped for the remainder of the month... so he has to do it between like 2 am and i think he said 5 am... which his internet speed is crappy to begin with, so uploading a 2+gig game (including eng trans) in a time line of 3 hours, which he would have to stay awake for then go to college a few hours later... yeah, it's not looking very good at the moment :'(
Btw, newest update on Clannad VN: *sings happily* I didn't get the Fuuko route ^_^! In fact, I just finished my first character's route of the game :D, it was Koumori-sensei How I managed to cry during this route is beyond me... but I still got teary-eyed... How do you do that, Clannad? I must know!
Well, First Light has been obtained! If i remember right, there's 13 lights, so I have another 12 lights to go before seeing the After Story arc x_x... this is gonna take awhile!
Whoops. Forgot to make a comment about this episode. I liked it a lot since we're moving to the main plot now. I just hope that Kyoto Animation doesn't mess up and do something that Toei Animation (Jesus Nonexistent Christ, I hate that company) would do. Also I like the new song for the preview now, it's very compelling. Lastly, the Choir Club girls have been showing up in the anime outro's for quite some time now and they don't even show up in the story. Sheesh I hate it when stuff like that happens.

This episode goes into my favourite list. Very very beautiful, yet without over-dramatic angst or plot, just a very simple relationship between two people who are in love.
The main plot aside, I was really happy to see Botan again. Her appearance was sadly little in the after-story and this made me rather sad since I'm a big fan of Botan.
I keep praying that nothing permanently bad happens to any of characters.
awww poor nagisa has to repeat again... was a cute episode though and liked seeing the old man some more hes just made of cool I like that the dad talked some sense into him as well wouldve been annoying for him to repeat high school cause whoever he would do that for should get hurt and mad at/cause of him
Great episode, we get to see what the other characters want to do in the future, and the final memories of the senior year (Most memorable year). It was sweet that Tomoya always stayed with Nagisa while she was sick and always worried for her well-being, also that Tomoya's friend were also worried not only for Nagisa but also for Tomoya's happiness. That christmas/Nagisa's birthday was a great moment because it showed Nagisa how important she is to the people around her (They really are like a family). The graduation was like the real life experience in the sense that when one graduates the people around you all celebrate for your successes, you spend time with good friends, and say your goodbyes to old (friends/teachers/or other friends in other grades), although it's a bye, you are sure to meet them again. It was nice how Nagisa was waiting outside the bakery to walk and hold hands with Tomoya to the very end of the episode.
This episode was simply too beautiful! I've never seen a simple hand held moment be so touching in any series. Tomoya confessing his worries and sadness to Nagisa as the Dango song played softly on the piano in the background was so emotional as well. Tomoya and Nagisa should go down in history as one of the best anime couples ever!
Does anyone know which album the version of "A Palm of a Small Hand" from this episode is from? It's an piano arrangement I've never heard before.
*edit* Oh, I was so wrong. The song is actually an arrangement of Nagisa's theme, which contains the melody for Palm. It's the ninth track on the Memento album, titled "Nagisa:Parting at the Foot of the Hill" Warm Piano Arrange" What an epic song it is...
swiftdeathsk said: I don't really feel the need to play that cuz it probably has no storyline, and nothing but "extreme fanservice"... that's just not worthy of Clannad imo...)
Completely wrong. Tomoyo After most certainly has a story, and from what I understand, a pretty good one at that. Just the fact that it's an eroge does not mean that it doesn't have a plot. Also, it was re-released on the PS2 with all the "questionable" content removed, and with a somewhat extended ending. For the record, both Kanon and Air were originally eroge as well, yet they've both got an extremely well-written story.
I feel better for Nagisa x Tomoya as a couple now, prior to the last few episodes and particularly after the last season ended I hated them as a couple. I seriously thought the Tomoyo and Okazaki pairing would be way better, all of thats changed now.
I seriously believe that the relationship between Tomoya and Nagisa is one of the best, if not the best, relationships i've ever seen in Anime. I mean, think about it, both of them became better people in some way because of one another. It also amazes me how strong she can be sometimes.
Beautiful stuff. I can already tell, i'm going to enjoy the hell out of After Story. I have a feeling we won't be seeing much of Kyou, Sunohara, and the others.. that sucks.
"Yes, I have been deprived of emotion. But not completely. Whoever did it, botched the job."
Honestly, we might as well skipped the first 8 episodes since they have nothing to do with the robot and the Lonely World.
Tomoyo and Nagisa are one of the most unsatisfying anime couples ever!
I know romance isn't what Key is trying to do, but I can't help but point out how stupid of a person Tomoyo is, and how overly shy Nagisa is.
Man, I hope the story gets MUCH MUCH better. To be frank, Clannad is my least favorite out of the 3 titles from Key.
Air was short, but cut to the chase and made it's message clear and beautiful. Kanon tried out a harem approach, and, instead of all of them clamoring over him, they were his friends rather than love interests. Kanon's emotional parts weren't as potent as Air's but they were a unque esperience all the same. AND Kanon's actual story was brilliant too!
Clannad... is long winded... It took THIS long to START the actual story?!?!
I'm a little pissed. But... for the sake of being a completionist/otaku, I'll finish...
Oh no the school part is over.
honestly it makes me so sad ; (
What is Nagisas mysterious illnes?
" I have a weak body" is such a lame excuse when you have no parasitic diseases.
Are there no capable doctors in japan?
