Sorry I took so long to reply! I read Last Game and while the lead is definately different then most shoujo heroines, she's still totally oblivious to the feelings the guy has for her. So for now, there has really been any scenes to judge her on points 3, 4 & 5 (when she'll be aware of either's emotions). I'm pretty sure that she'll turn into a cliché when she becomes aware of either his or her own feelings. That being said, she does not (currently) abide by any of the rules so I'm adding her but she can always be challenged here later on. |

I don't think that Momozono, Nanami fits the club. I've read up to chapter 41. I will try to read until recent chapters, so I won't misjudge. But so far she breaks rule #1, #4, #8. |

Eh, I understand #8 (although she cannot really do anything if gods to something to her while she's only a human being ô.o), but #1 and #4? Not really... |

I agree with Face_faith. Although #8 is definitely applicable, Gods or not. But hear me out: She did fight the ... erh it's been a while since I read it so bare with me... she fought the protector of that weird dude/lady neighboor by standing up to it.... Well, she does come across to me as a bit of a cliché but I also get the feeling that as stories are told, we'll get to know her better and realize she isn't. Meanwhile, I'm counting votes but it's one of those we'll have to wait till the end to truly know. Therefore, she gets 5 votes : she's in but applicable for debate later on if she becomes a cliché Alynitca said: If a character breaks any rules, reagrdless of chapter, she is disqualified. Well, it happens that a heroine starts off as a cliché but going through hardships, she becomes stronger and those are allowed in the club but she has to become less of a stereotype slowly but from the start!! It has to be sort of a plot tool. That being said, 41 chapters is a hell of a lot of chapters and I would consider that way too (fucking) long for her character to evolve. ;) |

One vote for Kizuna Etou from Torikagosou no Kyou mo Nemutai Juunintachi, please. The reason why I want to vote for Etou... if I may quote from Orulyon (one of the reviewer of the manga): The characters are the best. Kizuna is not a girl with a trauma, she is not enraged with life, does not have a mother or father complex. She accepts her loneliness without being too emo. She is not a crybaby and she is not a tsundere. Just a plain normal girl without being clumsy that has very realistic characteristics on her personality. you will love her straightforwardness at times, and she shows a very common type of person nowadays, which is, a person that desires money, yet, her good nature balances her character, making her not superficial, but a realistic protagonist. Admitting her mistakes, makes her very unique. Also, not the type of girl to fall in love at first sight, and does not show the"delicacy" of the typical japanese women. Not the cliché usual shoujo protagonist. I think she pretty said everything I wanted to say. Other than that, never mind. |

Honestly, it amazes me how long people think it takes to get a feel for a manga. In my opinion, once you hit ten chapters or so, you've given a story more than enough time to impress you. |

How many chapters are you waiting for her to evolve? I rarely judge by chapter count for this club. In my personal appreciation/evaluation, I do. I don't even give 10, I usually give 5 ch. But for this club it depends. Quite often, the leads suggested are oblivious to their own feelings. For those, I usually wait to see how she reacts when she notices her own emotions. When that happens if she starts blushing for no reason, starts crying for the littlest things, become an over cooked noodle in times of crisis and so on; well obviously, she's out. ================================ In the case of Momozono: #1_ she is not a damsel in distress (although we're led to think that because that's how the guy pictures her). But she isn't. #4_ As far as I can tell, she doesn't fall in love with the guy just because he can protect her but she hasn't fully developed her feelings just yet (hence why I want to wait). #8_ As I said before, she does get kidnap easily at first, the whole Gods and mystics being new to her but that turns around slowly when she starts catching her footing. She starts to fight back and tries to see what she "can" do given she has no clue what she's doing. Sorry for the long reply but I felt it important to mention that I don't judge after xx amount of chapter but I judge when certain things happen. Like when the lead is aware of her own feelings or in the case of cross dressing manga, they focus for so long on the cross dressing that romance usually takes a while to pop; but the post-romance behavior is the most important (also where most fail). Anyway, feel free to ask if I'm not clear :p |

Tsukimi, from Princess Jellyfish [http://myanimelist.net/character/34973/Tsukimi_Kurashita] Haruko Nanase, from Atashi no Bambi [http://myanimelist.net/character/69371/Haruko_Nanase] and from the one-shot [http://myanimelist.net/manga/36437/Sekai_de_Ichiban_Utsukushii_Namae I'd also like to upvote Vanilla Ice's Teahee, Han as well as Kamisama Hajimemashita's Momozono, Nanami. |

Ok, so I'm a bit of a spaz at this but I have a bunch of potential nominations I'd like to submit without wasting anyone's time. To that end, is there a spot where I can view the full list of the "currently nominated but not yet accepted or refused mangas/characters" so I can vote them up or down or do I need to parse through this entire thread? Also, is there a spot to view a full list of mangas/characters that were voted out so I don't go ahead and renominate one (I know I can see the accepted ones listed in the right column of the home page). Thank and, psyched to find this group...these types of heroines, and the mangas in which they appear are my favorites! |

Hina "Princess" Asou (http://myanimelist.net/character/13903/Hina_Asou) from FIVE (http://myanimelist.net/manga/3140/FIVE) - I could go either way on Hina: she starts out strong but is she getting a little more stereotypical? Would love to hear what you guys think. Subaru Ooji (http://myanimelist.net/character/47481/Subaru_Ooji) from Ouji to Majo to Himegimi to (http://myanimelist.net/manga/19809/Ouji_to_Majo_to_Himegimi_to) Vote For (already on nomination list): Tachibana, Meru from Fly_High! Bijinzaka Joshi Kouko Choi, Ida from He Dedicated to Roses Aoyama, Keito from Cat Street Yusa, Chiemi from Junai Tokkou Taichou Neiro Sonoda from Obaka-chan Koigatariki Nana from Othello (even if she is an alternate personality) Kino, Hime from Seiyuu Ka! Vote Against (already on nomination list): Momozono, Nanami from Kamisama Hajimemashita - love the manga, but she's kinda gone downhill since she realized she was in love. Hibino, Tsubaki from Kyou, Koi wo Hajimamasu - she's so unsure of herself and easily pushed around by her sister and others. That's all I can get to tonight. Enjoy! |

I would like to nominate for Orange Marmalade because it is tagged as shoujo on other websites. I already sent a request to tag it as shoujo on MAL. Orange Marmalade is tagged shoujo on MangaHere, MangaPark, mangawall, AND stated on an MAL review as a "shoujo manga" by Kitsune-no-Yuubi. I would also like to nominate Lee Ji Woo (no MAL page yet) from Cheonsaeng Yeonbun. She is a totally strong woman. Her grandfather wanted her to settle down and get married but she wanted to work in her grandpa's company. She even went so far as crossdressing as a guy in order to work there. She never gave up her dream on becoming an independent company woman. She HAS to be part of this club. |

Upvote for Shuurei from Saiunkoku Monogatari! She fits this club's standards pretty well I think. She's a strong young woman who takes no shit from anyone. Feminist all the way, and vying to become the nation's first female official. The only time you get to see her tears is when she's having a breakdown, and even when that rarely happens it's more jusified considering the hardships she has to endure. Shuurei and Saiunkoku Monogatari are inspiring and they both deserve to be here!! |

Hi, I just join this club and want to recommend a character from manga I've always like since elementary. She's Sei Tominaga from Kaze Hikaru. I'm pretty surprised the manga hasn't been added since it's a pretty popular shouju manga (I think?) in Japan and has once won an award. It's been months since I last read it and my memory might not be that reliable. All I remember was she's an independent strong-willed girl who dressed up as boy to join Shinsengumi for reason not romance related. Sometimes the manga might get a little bit reverse harem-vibe but as a harem-hater I wasn't as repulsed by it as compared to others because it's not unrealistic and doesn't get all in your face, but don't take my word on it, I'm probably just biased because I just really like Taeko Watanabe. And it's not like there are many people who actually like Sei romantically (maybe three tops??? I don't really remember), just bunch of guys in Shinsengumi admiring and teasing her as a pretty boy. What I like is how serious Taeko Watanabe did her research of Japan History as the story can be pretty detailed about the war, politic, culture and the overall condition ofJapan in Bakumatsu period instead of just hot guys in Shinsengumi uniform being hot doing their job slashing bad guys. All the characters, good or bad, actually felt realistic and down-to-earth on and have their own share of ideologies and stories. But there are also lots of cute moments in the manga that make me go awww which is pretty great because the politic part of the manga might get some of the reader bored if they aren't paying attention and only looking for some romance. Uhh, I really wasn't planning to make this post as long as a review haha. The point is I really like this manga, the protagonist and the mangaka. And it's an important manga for me growing up so I hope I can give it more recognition. |

I nominate Shakuya from Ryuu no Hanawazurai. She can get herself out of tough situations, and even though she can't really fight with weapons, she uses her own (powerful) skills. I initially thought that she was going to rely on the main guys too much, but it turned out that she was quite strong (character development, yay!). More votes: Nako from NanaKo Robin Eisul from Red Lion Suzume from Hirunaka no Ryuusei Futaba from Ao Haru Ride Shirayuki from Akagami no Shirayuki Hime Chouko from Hana no Namae Naho from Orange |
