THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Yeah, I watched it raw.

Anyway, this episode pretty much covered the first third of the first volume of the manga. It was about the same until Amu met Ikuto. She even Character Transformed this early into the series.

Somehow, I feel like this show will be quite childish (OP and ED with karaoke lyrics). Or was the manga already childish to begin with? Maybe something about Peach-Pit doing it made it less childish to me (Ikuto's unnecessary touching...)? :P

Well, it's a short series of a short manga. Hope it turns out well. And I hope someone subs it.

i liked it, but i was a bit disappointed with how they had her transform in the first episode, and i didnt expect it to be so childish either!
it's a shame they didn't have the ikuto feeling up amu moment T_T
i hope somone subs it soon, because although i watched the raw i just had to guess what they were saying XD

I loved it, but they did change quite a few things that I wanted to see animated! >.< Nevertheless, I'll continue to watch this series since I love the manga! I also think that they did a great job choosing the seiyuus.

Haha, that was great. I enjoyed this episode a lot, and that was also due to Formula's good subbing. The humor is great and Amu is absolutely awesome. I'll be sure to watch more of this, even if it's usually not my cup of tea.

well I kind of found this episode childish and I've never read the manga before. It was okay I guess but yea if it turns out for a show only for kids then I will probably drop this show...

I didn't expect to like this as much as I do. It does seem kind of childish, but then again I don't think I've seen a mahou shoujo that isn't.

Well, it's mahou shoujo and probably has some merchandise potential. So of course it'll be aimed at kids.

But I'll stick with it, as a fan of the manga and Peach-Pit. I don't mind mahou shoujo anyway.

I laughed when the intro starts going and the girl said "All kids hold an egg in their soul... The eggs of our hearts..."

Hilarious stuff.

Mahou shoujo (at my current age xD) usually isn't my preference, but I really enjoyed this episode. Amu is funny, and I might hang on to it for mindless, cute comic relief ^^

Everytime I heard "Humpy Lock", I kept thinking "Humpty Dumpty Lock" lol ... and "embryo" kinda threw me for a sec because... well, took me back to high school bio, and the pictures of chicken embryos .... creepy :S But anyway! ^^;

Chaco-kun, that was one of my favorite parts!

I don't know why people are complaining that this is such a childish anime. It's supposed to aimed for younger children as I assume ya'll know. But anyway, I really enjoyed this anime. Probably the best mahou-shoujo so far this year (next to Nanatsuiro Drops).

And it seems we've got a new seiyuu here. Itou Kanae for the voice of Amu. I thought she did very well. It's exactly how I imagined Amu's voice. Though I didn't really like Hotori's voice very much. They made him sound to girly. >_< I think that's the only thing I didn't like about the show. But yeah, I still give the first episode a 5/5. =D

We're (at least I am) comparing it to the source manga, which, personally, I never considered to be aimed at children.

I just randomly picked a scene and I loved the part when Ran was trying to catch Amu from her bubble! xD

Episode 2 is coming soon (tomorrow?), and I hope it's not going to be like those animes where the quality suddenly drops after a short while like one of PEACH-PIT's previous works, Zombie-Loan, which was turned into an anime (<- yes, quality dropped).

I really loved it!

I guess it depends on whether it will be able to keep up the pace, but Amu's character is really cool. As someone said on another board this reminds me of Super Gals except with magic :-D

Can't wait for the next episode!

I liked this anime. Being that I just got off of Zombie-Loan the genre switching with Peach-Pit was an interesting change. Normally I like MG animes but this one was a little too cute for me at first. I like the episode overall now that i've seen it. I like Amu's style so I guess that was my first reason for watching it.

The whole angel-egg this reminds me of Angelic Layer though, and pretty much everyone only has one guardian so that similarity kinda makes sense.

I've Been Watching Anime for 20 years now. Can you beat that?

Finally got the time to watch the first episode of this series and have a question for you guys that have watched up to the current released episode. Does every scene have random shapes (ie. stars, circles, rectangles etc...) moving around someones head or an object? Or was it just the first episode?

Since I've never really noticed what you're talking about, then I'd say no...

Unless you're talking about the random shapes that aid in exaggerating some emotions and feelings like shock, adoration, nervousness, etc.

Yea thats what I mean, every scene had them in it and it was really annoying so I just stopped watching. That's why I was asking if every scene of every episode was going to be like that.

Edit: scrolled up and realized this was a show for little kids, which explains a lot. to the drop list you go!

Hehehe, I really liked it...
I was still disappointed about the whole touching thing, since they replaced it...
And if my parents ever find out I'm watching this, they'll tease me forever...

It's half my fault anyway...

But, mahou shojou might seem a little too old for you guys, but for me, it seems to be the only mature kind of mahou shojou I've watched...
Smile, you look way better that way!! ^_^

I'm a little bit late to start this, but I was in the mood for a modern magical girls series and I went for this one. And I'm so, so glad that I did! This episode had everything that makes a mahou shoujo series great -- cute, fun cast, interesting premise, and engrish (humpty lock? really? lol).

I really enjoy the theme of becoming the kind of person you want to be, and I love that it's being used in both Amu's powers and personality. I can't wait to see what gets done with it throughout the series.

One neat thing I noticed: The three eggs have heart, spade, and club designs: three suits of playing cards. Will diamonds come into play somehow? I'm looking forward to it! (Come to think of it, the student council members are called the king, queen, jack, and ace. Hm.)

I liked Amu's guthic/punk style.
So far it seems like an interesting shojo anime to me.
It would rock if the anime doesn't divert from the manga too much, since such anime usually end up crappy than their counterparts. Hoping it doesn't.
Anyway, I enjoyed this episode, and if I was younger, I would probably had loved this anime to death, since back then I was really into shojo anime as much as shonen.
Looking forward to not getting dissapointed by these anime series ^^

I'm a bit late to start watching it, and I was seriously trying to prevent myself from doing so, figuring it's totally out of my age range (come on, elementary school kids with shiny eggs? You gotta be kidding me.), but after reading a bit of the manga, thought it was awesome, entertaining and well-paced.
I watched this episode 3 times in a row. :D Yeah, I'm crazy, but I think the seiyuus were perfect for their roles, except for Ikuto, but I'm hoping that particular first impression will change later on. :) I don't think they did such a bad job, considering the manga or not.
I'm impressed. Off to episode 2. ^^ I have a feeling this will go straight to my favs.
Oh yeah, am I the only one who noticed the winter hexagon above Amu's house? :) This is the first time I've seen a somewhat accurate night sky in an anime. ^^ Go Shugo Chara!

That random "all kids have eggs in their souls" or whatever line at the beginning kinda threw me off >___< that in itself made me have second thoughts about starting it but...
It was cute. I already knew it'd be childish, that was obvious just by reading the plotline. Being childish has never stopped me from enjoying something before, don't see why it would now. Looks like it'll be a good series. I just hope that line isn't at the beginning of every episode...
Oh, and I love Amu's style haha. I'm sure I'll end up liking her, she seems like my type of character ~
