There are many suggestions that Toradora is one of the best romance anime but I didn't enjoy it after watching a few episodes mainly because the main heroine Taiga is so annoying. Also Im a fan of Kugimiya Rie but for the first time Im annoyed by her voice LOL. Can any MAL users share what makes you like this? Will it get better 2nd half?

look it's a great series, I wouldn't say it's one of the best but it is amazing. it's not everyone's cup of tea either. I personally really enjoy it still but it might just not be for you

well romance anime tend to build up over time not to mention it's 24eps , I watched it a long time ago but I clearly remember it was a good romance anime, for me atleast

Common complain. There are minimum 20 threads saying the same thing. Ever heard of character development? Yes Taiga gets more likable throughout the series. The second half gets better and better with each episode. Great character writing, dialogue, drama and romance. Rushed ending, but still decent nonetheless.

Taiga develops into top 3 best written female leads in RomCom as long as you pay attention and recognise great writing

I don’t see the appeal in violent tsundere’s either. The anime stays with the theme, they do have development, but the characters don’t exactly change much and are still annoying.

If you don’t already like it you will probably still feel the same by the end.

A lot stand by it though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

well it's good, but not one of the best for me,,i don't like tsundare girls but this anime has character development and all...I was supporting different female character but well it's good

I really enjoyed this anime, and yes taiga gets slightly less annoying later in the anime (but I personally think that’s what makes this anime so good)

couldnt agree more.. i dont find that behavior cute at all XD tsundere is actually can be cute but Taiga isnt a good example

This and Fuuka share the same problem, the first ep makes you hate the female lead. That’s the point, the next 23 episodes are all about redemption, but also the audience understanding how she got like that. It’s a good romance but far from perfect.

At first, I thought this was an uninteresting romance anime. But after watching a dozen or so episodes, I realized that this anime is not bad either.

I can't say it's the best romance anime, but at least I enjoyed it in the end. The story itself is really good at the end.

Taiga kinda became "the tsundere" because of how well-written she was. Instead of just being a violent cartoon character, you and Ryuuji come to understand why Taiga has such a jaded outlook on things. But that's also what makes their dynamic believable because, deep down, the both of them want to be liked but they don't care enough to not be cynical, so they jive well

Taste differs.

Like many tsunderes, Taiga develops.

Toradora is very straightforward for a romance genre.

For me, Toradora is not bad but outclassed by many other modern romance LNs such as British Stepsister, Villainess Fiancee, Ice Queen Heart, etc.

I really like this anime because it balances well between comedy, drama and a little bit of proper romance. You may hate me but I think Taiga is the best girl.

It definitely gets better, very intense, very emotional. It is one of the greatest romcoms. Don't worry about not liking Taiga, that will change. And when you've finished it watch "Anthem of the Heart" movie by the same director. Then watch Gosick which is kind of similar but more epic. Happy viewing 😀😀😀

Definitely an anime of it’s time but the main group chemistry and drama is great! Very understandable though, I tried to rewatch it and couldn’t get past the 1st episode.

Taiga stays the same annoying person she starts as. I don't understand the love for her as she is physically and emotionally abusive and extremely manipulative. I hated her from the start and only finished the show in hopes she would change, but she never does.

this anine for its time set the stage for a lot of the future romance animes we see now. I remember reading an article about how a lot of romance since then took inspiration from Toradora so yes for it's time, it was peak.

Toradora is one I really liked since Taiga is adorable, and I watched it when I was new to anime. I would give it a solid 8.5. Toradora portable is a must too.
