I had a hunch that Lange would ruin the meeting when he decided to participate, and he did it for real. lmao... Can someone send him home asap? This dumb prince can't do politics at all.

I didn't like the negotiations one bit. I had the show at an eight now its at a seven. Felt rushed and watered down by childish drama.

I think I finally understand what happened there.

Given that Licia knows the approximate budget of the royal capital, it's only natural to assume that Shakuma has a good idea of how much the duchy could reasonably offer, say through an intel network similar to Fam's. Further, Licia clearly states that the objective is to make Shakuma think he made a profit, i.e. give him more than 2000 coins. Therefore, neither offering 2000 coins upfront as suggested by Lenge nor after normal negotiations as expected by Ars would achieve the objective. Additionally, Licia makes it more convincing that they've exhausted all other options by offering clothing and jewelry instead of gold coins. This way Shakuma gained more than he expected from his intel and hence leaves satisfied.

Finally, showcasing Lenge's bluntness may be intentional to put Shakuma at ease, as it will be easier for him to deal with such an arrogant noble instead of someone as cunning as Licia.

Liked the episode for the most part. Didn't like Couran's son however. He just exists to be a nuisance and that made that portion of the episode hard to watch.

Can't believe this is how "political negotiations" go. This is like the medieval times and they are sending children + a girl to do all the important negotiation talk. The big shot of Paradille doesn't seem to care. Their system seems to be heavily based on patriarchy, this just all seems highly unrealistic. And their political talks about war boiled down to ok here's some gold, ok that seems like a good amount I will go to war for you. What? Since when was getting allies in war this easy. They could've sent any market haggler for this. Trying to make Licia look smart by having her explain you always lowball your enemy to get the most profit... yeah everyone knows that. Then the stupid son shows up, I hope he's pretending to be stupid for a deeper plot because if this was just to show that Lucia would predict his stupidry then I am completely dumbfounded and disappointed. I was quite enjoying the episode until they actually started that meeting.

I'm surprised Charlotte wasn't pressing to become the 2nd wife or something with how she was in the the first season. Although I don't know how serious she was back then.

The wealthy flaunting their rich lifestyles while the people suffer in poverty all around them...Looks awfully quite familiar IRL.

I'm not surprised Licia took into account that the lord's son was dumber and more useless than a box of rocks. But the way I would have done it, I'd be deceicing my allies first, lying to them about the 2000 being the max upper limit, much like the tactics of a pawn shop in every transaction. That would have been easier than the stunt she pulled, when ended up costing them an extra 1500 gold. She just ended up playing all the cards she had and it ended up working, but half of those cards wouldn't have been nessesary in the first place.
