All I need to say about this episode, is that I can no longer say I've never cried while watching a show...°

Q_Q

Damn, I don't even want to think about it. But the glimmer of hope at the end made me feel a lot better at least :P
5/5

°- because of that, Kanon's going to be bumped a point higher then I would've originally pegged it lol.

it's always this episode that people seem to cry in...even though I thought the later arcs were sadder. meh, it gets the benefit of being the first sad moment i guess

Well, I haven't gotten to the later arcs yet :)

The way I think it though, if this is going to be a string of sad-ending arcs, it wouldn't make sense for them to get less sad as you progress :P

I really liked this episode, but I have to say the very end, from the moment Amano appears to speak with Yuichi, through their conversation and to the beginning of the ED, is one of the best-crafted conclusions to an anime episode I've seen in several years. There's a moment where the shot expands out and the light disappears just as the snow arrives and the mood of their conversation changes that is just brilliant. A lot of people like Kyoto Animation for the obvious fluid animation and lovable characters. It's the little details like this that draw me in, however.

Amazing episode. So sad, but the shot of Makoto on the hill at the end made me kinda hopeful. I wonder if they'll meet again...

Such a sad episode. I didn't cry (which is surprising for me) but it certainly tugged at my heartstrings.

From what I understood, it's not that she's alive, but it's what Yuuichi would wish for as a miracle.

Great episode, lots of emotion all the way through, I didn't cry at all even though I've been waiting for a show to make me bawl again ever since

That was pretty touching. No crying from me, but I was on the verge for most of the episode.

I hope Mai's arc is next. Ayu is my favorite character, but I'm most interested in knowing what Mai is up to.

After suffering so much from this episode, i'm suprised Yuuichi kept his composure. Having to watch someone you love die slowly in front of you will devestate anyone.

But he did the right thing, fulfilling Makoto's wishes. I'm sure she died with no regrets and sadness.

The scenario sort of relates to the japanese drama "1 litre of tears" doesn't it? teenage girl slowly loses her physical capabilities but keeps her mental capacity.

Aw, poor Makoto. This episode left me with a very sad state of mind - it just got more melancholy as the episode progressed. I never dreamed of her being a reincarnated fox from Yuuichi's past.

it was areally sad episode. enough to make men feel sad,and some were driven to tears. I kinda wish that they'll continue the story,at least an OVA,and that they will all be complete there.
I actually found makoto annoying at the start. but I eventually liked here.
and it makes me sad that she had to go.

Never before have I cried so much in a single episode. Such a happy and yet sad ending for Makoto. Yet I believe that she had fulfilled all her desires until the very end. Yuuichi stayed strong for her sake and made her happy. If that would happen to me, I would have done the very same thing.

Overall the best episode that I have seen in this type of genre. 10/10 .

It was so sad. I was in tears while they were walking up the hill. :[

And the last shot of her laying on the hill did it. I started crying for like 30 minutes. xD

A very sad episode it was....
Makoto's and Piro's death that is, although her "delicate" state was pretty sad to watch too.

That's actually when it jerks my tears... not at the end where she disappears, but the hardship she and yuuichi had to go through when she slowly forgets everything.

sigh.

This episode hit me on a really personal level. I had a great aunt that had Alzheimer and watching Makoto deteriorate mental brought back emotions that I was quite honestly unprepared for. I had to bench the anime for a couple weeks before I could move on. This show is by far my favorite anime ever.

Same about me...
I was expecting a much more "sad until the end" image...
But marrying just before disappearing, it broke my expectations.
I think it's most due to i have seen the previous version Kanon (2002).
There, scenes runs faster, so the end is the sadder part and there is no wedding.
I think that's why i almost cried in episode 9 of Kanon (2006) but was kinda emontionless in the end of episode 10...

But i'm impressed with this good producing.
It's real that more episodes = more emotions!!

Wait, what was that last scene!? I expect this series be different then the previous version then...

She didn't fulfill all her desires. She wanted to be with him forever and it seems (at least on this episode) like that is never gonna happen.

I don't really feel much impact from it. However, I can tell that it is pretty sad compare to a lot of others out there. I can imagine a lot of people have teary eyes or cry over this ^_^ The last moment between Makoto and Yuuichi is heart warming, sitting by each other playing with a bell till she finally gave in.

I really adore Makoto. Especially in this episode, she's clinging on to her favorite person, I can't explain, but she's like a pet, except way surpasses that level of closeness. I just don't get it. It's a rather special relationship that can't be describe with words. (Though I believe adore should be the closest description.)

It is pretty sad, Just not quite there to make me eyes go teary. I'd give this episode a 9/10 if I can rate it.

This episode is pure concentrated evil on a stick. It depressed me enough that I stopped watching this show for a year. That doesn't happen.

This series seems to be good at evoking emotion that way. Definitely well-done.
Dead as the moon is, it still pulls the tide; somewhere within it must still be alive.
