Asking "why even do magic?" is pretty interesting since the first series was pretty explicitly just a typical "magic would be fun!" kind of show. The opening theme even says as much.

Solid episode, once again. Pop has been getting much less spotlight since the beginning of Motto, which is really sad as she's as much of a great character as our five main heroines. And her spell chanting scene is always a nice throwback to the first season. :)

What do we need magic for? I think this was the show's way of telling its audience that you don't need any gimmick or special powers of any sort to be a good person. These self-reflection, quite philosophical moments really set this series apart from your usual kid show.

I mean in the last few episodes of the first seasons they rely on magic less & less & in the finale decide that the reason they wanted to become witches could be achieved without magic.
