Damn it, Thunder and the others needs to get out of there. Akira struggling too ;.;

I think Marie is still struggling to absorb everything she's learned recently. I don't blame her though. I was half expecting her to pilot that Valvrave. Rip memories ;.; and damn, she went out with a bang.

Why did you do it Sunrise? Why let Marie live so that she can suffer worse as a possible vegetable? Why let almost all people who are close and dear to Shouko suffer directly/indirectly by the hands of Haruto, her love interest?....

I know I shouldn't have asked why. As soon as I hopped on this Valvrave train, I knew that this show would not be a fun flick for long. Suffering is the name of the game and everyone will suffer. Shouko, Haruto, L-elf, Saki, other pilots, the Valvrave OS, and the Dorssian kids all will have seen the depth of despair by the time this series ends.

However, that is why Valvrave is so entertaining. I don't watch this show to enjoy seeing people suffer. I'm interested in how the characters react, cope, and grow out of their predicaments. I'm intrigued by the plot that is so wild in its unpredictability.

In this episode, Saki is in danger as she was left behind in enemy's hand. Lieselotte is finally shown to be in a real predicament. Marie's fate is unknown but there are indications that she will forget everything when waking up, if she ever does. Haruto will once again blame himself for what happened. Shouko is oblivious to all these losses and she will be hurt the most once the news is dumped on her.

This show has practically been tame up to now by Sunrise mecha anime standards. Generally the rule is nobody ever gets to be happy for long and if the ending is even to be a bittersweet one the cast has to all but bleed out before it can happen.

Here's an example of the more extreme end of the spectrum from Ideon:

Holy Shit!! This ep was EPIC!! Marie absolutely Kicked ass!! Like a BOSS!!
I wonder if Haruto can use it to that extent of potential?

Damn it was heart breaking seeing Marie having to sacrifice her memories attack by attack ;_;

I'm sure Haruto is gonna blame L-Elf as usual nxt time XD

I was surprised that Marie was the test pilot for suit#1. I wonder how come she loses memories while Haruto doesn't and can just recharge runes by biting? Shouldn't she be able to recharge by biting too? Or does it have sth to do with her being a prototype?

Damn her immortality sucks though. What's the use of being immortal if ur gonna lose memories everytiime u use ur power O_O

I wonder what happened to Saki? Did they just forget about her? Maybe she'll get to know more about A-drei now.

Pino was cute.

He would probably blaming himself for not piloting VVVI. He is the type of person putting everything onto himself.

I think Marie uses her own runes instead of other's like Haruto did. So that's why she loses her memory so quickly. That said, they had been using her as test pilot for 3 years (5 years in the past - 2 years of retained memory = 3). That means 11 years worth of memory can let her operate VVV Engine under test condition for 3 years, while 2 years worth was dumped for this battle.

This makes me hopeful that Marie is alive not in the vegetative stage, while only losing her 2 years of memory.

However, that's mean L-elf is in danger if he continues to give Haruto runes. My speculation is that he will slowly lose his memory and combat ability as the series goes on. This is bad news since L-elf's superpower is what saving the team right now.

Oh, now that u mention that. I can see it happening. L-Elf starting to lose memories? That will be sad :(

Or maybe it will be a good thing and he'll live happily ever after as a normal human being if there will be an epilogue or sth at the end ^^

Nice, loving how this season doesn't focus only on Haruto (or Shouko), Marie's sacrifice was sad :( She was willing to give up her memories to save everyone, and kept believing that she could make more memories. Great execution during the battle, and how her memories disappeared one by one. I guess as the test pilot, and the original pilot of Unit 1, Marie is more capable of operating it a its maximum potential than Haruto.

While it really sucks at what happened to Marie (go fuck yourself Okouchi Ichiro) I am laughing at the people who bashed Haruto for picking L-Elf to power the Valvrave.
This is what would possibly happen to Saki if shes picked instead.

Define dead... she seems to have become a vegetable which is as good as death at best, but is often considered a worse fate.

After the sxplosion, FukuJun's character and the little boy acted by idol girl together at the memory place, and Elf-san with that girl just realized she's like Haruto. She was an experiment of Valvrave before it was complete. That girl in Valvrave's energy is her memory. As expected, she's more experienced than Haruto, but she already forgot all with the amount she just fought and died?

He keeps performing multiple plastic surgeries on those Shingeki No Kyojin characters in a SINGLE chapter.
Yes, I've read up to the latest chapter of Shingeki No Kyojin manga.
Forced myself to read through the kidsketching chapters after the anime's ended. At least from now on, I only have to go through the hell once a month.
Patiently awaiting SNK TV/movie/OVA anime-sequel.

SUNRISE!!! How could you piratically kill off such an epic and new badass character in a snap!? I wanted to see Marie become a center focus on solving Valvrave's mysteries. L-Elf, what is you're crew gonna think when they learn Marie is DEAD!?

Anyone else feel like Marie used a burst mode or something when she piloted it? Unit 1 opened up and revealed parts releasing a green aura, completely different from what happens when Haruto pilots it.

Still, I'm really loving this series, the mecha action DEFINITELY gets me hyped like crazy for each episode.(and those acursed cliffhangers!) Everyone in this series is gonna be in despair, no one leaves happy.(except the mad man[viewer] laughing)

Definitely 10/10 amazing episode. Maybe the best so far, after the one focusing on Akira and her brother.

I'm kinda loving the despair and tragedy so far. Really living up to a Sunrise series. Speaking of Sunrise series, I'm calling it now - Marie isn't dead, but she has a Kamille Bidan fate. Anybody wanna take bets on who will be her Fa?

Also, her craziness in Unit 1 was amazingly epic. Marie's skills looked like they could rival Cain's. And dat insert song... *shudders*.

To show that there was still one threat left to the group's escape, and thus a reason that she had to make that final attack.

As for why the Valvrave is so much more destructive when she is piloting, I imagine it is related to the issue of her expending runes at such a high rate. While she gives it more power, it comes at far too high of a cost to be efficient.

Wow. Just wow. They did a huge turnaround with Marie in a little more than one episode. I must say this was impressive. I suppose Marie's case also helps to explain the Valvrave system. The reason why Marie is so much stronger as a pilot is because there's no limit on how much Pino is drawing from her (Pino explains at one point her limiter is broken). At the end, I suppose after having no memories to be consumed, Pino basically had to eat up her life. Kakumeiki Valvrave can sometimes look like it's trying too hard to throw in emotions, but this time it actually did well to convey the weight and gravity of the situation, especially when Haruto was talking to Marie at the end. That scene showing her past breaking away from her memory too. Very nice.

Meanwhile, Saki is the one who's really screwed since she's still stuck with A-drei. And the princess finally makes a notable appearance of sorts.

Marie is using her memories as the price, hence the runes Pino is getting are likely much stronger. Haruto thus far has had no permanent side-effect since he only has to bite someone every once in awhile. Marie's basically burning up her life, on the other hand.

OS Girl did say something about Marie's "limiter" being damaged/broken. One could assume that unlike Haruto and the others, as Marie was the test/prototype pilot, she is "incomplete" meaning the rune source can be derived from herself as well (unlike e.g. Haruto in Episode 13 when the valvraves simply shut down due to a lack of runes), coupled with the damaged "limiter" meaning when piloting a Valvrave, she is as good as leaking runes all over the place.

Confirmation that Lieselotte is Pino?Considering that Pino just happen to appear right after Lieselotte got into that machine.Or was that just a dresser?

Marie's memories are gone because of Pino eating her runes.I think the same thing is going to end up happening to L-elf too.

Damn,L-elf and etc. killed their friend in order to survive.
"Best to kill than to be killed."

Marie was indeed a test pilot.

A noble sacrifice of her, losing her remaining memories.Made me a bit teary eye everytime one of Marie's memories was erased.

Marie was pretty badass using Unit-1.Especially dat last slash,it epic as fuck.Looked like a nuclear bomb went off.

Marie's last memory is erased and dat empty,emotional-less expression she has on her face ;.;.

So is Marie died now?Really hope she isn't and just lost her memories but it doesn't seem to be so.

Rewatched: Knew there was something different about this episode's ED,didn't realize it was the one from last season. No wonder I was excited to see next episode.

I so feel sorry for Marie ,she just got memories back and now gone in a fight which was by far awesome.

I feel sad when they lose those memories...

Can't believe he killed one of his friends though
Seems too me their past are so messed up ,with Marie it is crazy and messed up .

Well that was despair ridden..I think if Marie's short memories had some actual substance rather than just Shouko being Shouko I'd have been able to feel the feels a bit more. It was still pretty good, the concept was utilized well enough and that old ED insert was really well done.

And hey, we got to see L-Elf shoot people.

Dammit Sunrise.

Marie didn't have much screentime but I still liked her and got hit by the feels. Not looking forward to how Shoko will take the news, she just keeps losing people important to her. And inb4 Haruto blames either himself or L-Elf...or both. Also, Marie > Haruto in terms of piloting Valvrave I.

I'm not sure whether to think Marie is dead or if she's just gone vegetable like others have mentioned. Despite saying that it was heavily implied that she did die, and even if she didn't her brain is kaput which is pretty much the same as being dead. The eyes fading out made it pretty explicit though.

All in all, it was a great episode.

Great episode. A lot of information was reveled. Marie kicked ass. Happy L-elf plan worked out. Hate that Marie had to go through that. In the end she lost all memories and became a vegetable. I couldn't help but tear up. Pino knew this would happen and said her goodbye. Wonder how Haruto going to take it. I just know he going to be really hurt. Wonder who's going to tell Shouko? Any way can't wait for next episode.
