| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- 1 year passed? Kodai looks a lot older than what I thought one year would be while the other characters haven't changed, which makes sense since 1 year isn't that much. Desler coming back should be a surprise for me but the Characters & Voice Actors section on the anime page completely spoiled that one, I like him as a nemesis, the Comet Empire people don't look as cool |

He was introduced much later there |

| I was surprised how I enjoyed seeing Kodai and the others again. I didn't think I would come to like all of the characters so much. |

| Finally started this one. The original is one of my favorite 70s anime, so Yamato II has big shoes to fill. So far it definitely captures that atmosphere that I loved in the original, and seeing Leiji Matsumoto's character designs immediately gave me warm fuzzy feelings. I was really surprised to see Dessler pop up again. And apparently Gamila is not an entirely spent force yet, considering he hints at its possible revival? Interesting first episode, although it moves at quite a slow pace (which can kinda be expected from a pre-MSG 70s anime), it hooked me in right away. |
