The Spirit of New York

Sounds luxurious and uncomfortable.

A Goemon-centric episode.

Seeing Zenigata dressed as a clown was a treat. It looked like he was playing whack-a-mole with Lupin there for a minute lol.

Bob Fosse, Death on the Nile and Who'll Stop the Rain are the references I could make out
btw, yet another episode that takes place in New York

In which Lupin tries to steal a solid gold pinball machine while Goemon deals with a girl named Lilly who has fallen for him. The only problem? She's a ghost:

Well actually the truth leads to a much less depressing and slightly less outlandish outcome: she's actually a quintuplet!

Out to recover her family's solid gold pinball machine which was stolen from them. Ah pinball....must be the 80s. XD Well this was the third episode in a row now I really liked after that bad stretch. 2 of them being Goemon heavy. It's interesting, he's usually my least favorite of the main 5 but has probably had the best focus episodes of them in this series so far. His interactions with Lilly were pretty cute, and once again the gang ended up doing a charity job of sorts. That's 2 in a row. I loved Jigen's gentle ribbing at the end, just don't take it so hard Goemon!

I really enjoyed the comedy centered around Goemon in this episode especially his increasing desperation to get rid o the ghost and his reaction to being called Oji-sama.

Golden rash, must be pretty itchy xD

Fryin pan OP, I finally knew why it's a weapon in Zombie Apocalypse now xD

I'll note that Goemon really hate being called "ojii-sama"

Poor Goemon, tricked into believing that he was haunted by ghost. xD Well, at least those quintuplets were able to recover their family's treasure I guess. Not even Fujiko complained about leaving it to someone else this time. lol Oh, the frying pan scene was gold. xD

I usually enjoy Goemon episodes, this one was okay too by this season's standards. Which is more surprising considering it took place in New York, I haven't usually enjoyed those. One flaw though: Goemon has several times in the previous series said that a warrior never parts with his sword, yet now he let Lupin borrow it like it was nothing.

Easily, this was my favorite episode of this series so far. Art style is still shifting more and more towards that 1969 pilot episode's style. Poor Goemon, he was played for a fool in this episode.
