This episode is deep~ My favorite Kino episode. I own the box on DVD but unfortunate for me, this episode is not included. I think it's about not questioning the meaning of life or something like that, which is a pretty important topic I think. I can't really put it in to words but that is one of the greatest things about Kino no Tabi. It is really beautiful but you can never really define why. ^^ |

Very good episode... i understood the meaning but its really hard to put it into words... its like... not everything that seems unreasonable is really like that... Like Kino said "maybe its just you", it kinda hard to understand, but maybe this guy is the only crazy one and not all the people who building this tower... its hard to understand it in our life because its really stupid to build a tower with no meaning, but in this episode in this city, i think that this guy who didnt want to work was the crazy one... damn it kino no tabi is mind blowing. geee$#%$#%$ |

That was great. In less than fifteen minutes, the staff managed to express the whole meaning of Absurdism and gave an optimistic answer to the problem ; answer which, imo, is the right one : the usual Carpe Diem. It's my favorite episode overall, and I'm actually thinking that every episode has been of the same quality, and that I couldn't fully comprehend them owing to my lack of culture. I should rewatch the entire show in the future. |

Building this tower is their life and belief. We think they are weird and they think we are weird but the fact is that their knowledge about the world is limited. They think their actions are normal because that is how they've been taught in their life-time and nothing else besides that matters. |

Have the character designs always been this bad? More deep meanings that a 17 year old like me will probably not understand. When a bunch of people are building a tower and one guy thinks the ones building the tower are crazy, who is the real crazy one? I didn't really like this that much. There wasn't enough time to really flesh out the country. 6/10 Fabsotic said: Thanks for clearing that up. It all makes sense now. The underlying meanings in Kino's Journey are so unbelievably deep that it makes it very hard for a teenager to completely understand.Building this tower is their life and belief. They think their actions are normal because that is how they've been taught in their life-time and nothing else besides that matters. |

Looking past all of the absurdity, the idea of the tower construction reminds me of daily life. It can get monotonous and bland if all I'm doing is repeating the same steps day after day. Even something as simple and slight as coloring and engraving bricks added a brand new approach to building the tower. Similarly, finding those new ways to enjoy each day transforms life from a repetitive task to a vivid adventure. |

I kinda understand the meaning but it's hard to put it in words. 8/10 The meaning is simple, the people needed something to do with their lives, even if it meant never going anywhere. When there was nothing else to do, they decided to find something else (rebuilding the tower). Basically it's an allegory to the people who lead meaningless lives who are not capable of accepting different realities or broaden their horizons. , they are solely focused on their vision. |

Kino being a lawful neutral asshat again lol like, Kino, would it kill you to take the guy a few hundred yards out of town so the villagers can't find him and execute him for dissenting? I feel like this episode might be an allegory for customs and traditions, but eh, I dunno |

I didn't like this at all, felt rushed and the ending that's basically "just keep doing as your told" kinda runs contrary to what this show usually was about. |

It's a reference to the Tower of Babel. We had an episode similar to this during the series, with almost the same meaning, the reason people built the tower was to see it destroyed, maybe this is a metaphor for life, where the reason for life is it comes to an end , and we can make a lot of different things out of life. But just as in the series it is something that is very far from reality to be bought into the narrative, I think that just as the meaning of this special as of the entire series like the tower does not hold up in the end. I'll give it 7/10 because it's clearly a continuation of the series. |

Probably one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen. Were they building a tower or a space elevator? lol I thought the people were jubilant over the tower collapsing because they no longer had to worship it, but in reality they were just celebrating that they could build it yet again. The one guy who realised their Sisyphean task was beyond asinine just got mocked by Kino for the fun of it too. The guy should definitely consider travelling on his own as an alternative to whatever sort of hellish torture that country perennially subjects itself to. Makes no sense at all. Still funny by virtue of it being so shamelessly outlandish. |
