According to Dragonball.wikia.com: Episode 153 of Dragon Ball first aired on April 19, 1989 and... Episode 1 of Dragon Ball Z first aired on April 26, 1989 So, nope, they didn't just air this filler concurrently with DBZ. They were probably just waiting for the manga to get a bit further in. Episode 148 of Dragon Ball aired on March 8, 1989, and the Dragon Ball Manga was currently up to Chapter 212. Dragon Ball Z starts at chapter 195 of the manga, so with only 17 manga chapters to work with, I'm guessing they wanted to take a break from the main story for a month or two. By the time the Dragon Ball Z anime started, the Dragonball manga was up to Chapter 219... meaning they had a 24 chapter buffer. |

| I mean ChiChi is really cute. I'm more than happy to watch drawn out proceedings of her and Goku's wedding until the series is over. But first of all can we not have more Oolongs one was bad enough. And second this plot is way too fucking stupid. In what world would the Old dude not burn up a thousand times over while Goku's scrambling for the fan. Pretty stupid, pretty god damn stupid. |

| Toei were in their BAG when they though of this filler I mean we get to see the main couple actually be a couple? I guess the burning part is kind of stupid but now I’m here for the cute moments and epilogue |
