Wow! Tochi/Toshio is not the same idiot as ever. He almost did it this time.
Great episode, in my opinion.

I can honestly say this is definitely one of the best episodes of the whole series so far.

Toshi is much more serious, he has everything well planned ahead of time, always looking clues, alternative routes, new gadgets.

He even researched and managed to at least connect some relationship between Cat's Eye and Heinz.

It's as if he's actually a detective lol :P

It's really sad if Toshi does find out about Hitomi being Cat's Eye. I wonder how he will feel once the culprit's he was trying to catch for more than a year turns out one of the members is her lover herself.

I really thought the portrait has nothing to do with Heinz, but it seems Hitomi doesn't like playing dirty against Toshi despite the odds.

Ai almost got caught, if it weren't for Rui's quick thinking of cutting the generator.

If only he didn't savor the moment and actually just went ahead and apprehend her.

I actually forget guns are illegal in Japan and only the military(well no really an actual military, but more of a defensive one) can only have guns.

I guess police can have one in emergencies like this.

If the mafia guy got caught, he could have at least spilled the beans about the painting so at least Toshi would still suspect Cat's Eye and Heinz connection.

But i don't think Toshi would let go of that connection so easily.

This is getting intense by the episode! I really can't wait for the next one!

I was skeptical, but the show really does seem to be trying to depict Toshi as a competent, legitimate threat, at least for now. And it's much appreciated. His only self-inflicted flaw this episode was that tiny rant he went on wasting valuable time while Ai was glued to the floor. But that was largely overshadowed by his awesome detective work, planning ahead with the backup generator/gas mask/underground plan b, and him straight-up saving Hitomi's life with his marksmanship. It's nice that the show still has him getting credit for arresting criminals, even if it's not Cat's Eye. I also liked Hitomi wearing her engagement ring, but I'll be curious to see how often we see her with it in later episodes, as well as how long Toshi's spike in competency lasts.

Good to see the story moving on a little bit. I wonder how all this mess is gonna be solved with Toshi and Hitomi

Definitely enjoyable, yes! I agree - really nice to see Toshi finally making some progress and not being a bonehead.

I begin to think I'm understanding everything and then I don't. So the sisters are trying to find their Dad's collection, or explicitly works made by their Dad? I feel like it's been random jewels and several things that definitely weren't made by Heinz in the past.

WOW!!! i was shocked to see Toshi make enough progress that he's actually causing Cat's Eye to worry!!! This far in, i was starting to think that he was going to stay clueless either forever or until almost the very end, but never quite figure it out. i rewatched the beginning of the episode a couple of times to make sure i was understanding everything correctly hahaha. i can't believe he's starting to crack the case!!!!

when i started watching Cat's Eye, the badassery of the Kisugi sisters was understandable; Their physical prowess and mental capabilities didn't surprise me TOO much (if they did a crossover with Lupin, their skills had to be top notch). i thought the story was gonna only revolve around their daring escapades week by week. but what i didn't expect was their access to James Bond level devices! like COME ON! how the hell is anyone going to even have a chance at catching them with all the crazy stuff at their disposal?!?! and Toshi has just been a wreck this whole time! i mean yeah, he's had his moments where he shows he can be a thoughtful guy with standards; but with Cat's Eye being so damn formidable, i didn't really think Toshi (or any other cop) stood a chance at catching them. but i guess i was wrong? hahaha :)

it also surprised me to hear Rui mention Toshi's diligence as his strength. that scene fucked me up! it's true! Toshi never gives up chasing them! he's even started to get pretty daring himself hahaha :D

that ending scene, where Hitiomi saves Toshi form the two gunmen, Toshi saves her from the third gunman, she saves him again from the boss, and then they just stare at each other in the darkness before Hitomi runs away and Toshi doesn't chase her.... to me that felt like Toshi was paying her back for saving his life. shit like that is why i can't help but love Toshi; he has some kind of honor. not only that, but he's the only cop that realizes that Cat's Eye also has some kind of honor as well. that's why i want him to make progress as a man damn it!!!!! Toshi's been so hard to watch sometimes!!! especially when he get flustered by other woman around Hitomi; i can let go a lot of the other bumbling that he does, but not that. so to see that he's actually making progress is pretty crazy. like i said, i thought he was gonna stay the butt of the joke the whole time. Toshi's development in this episode seems like it's gonna take this story to a whole new level! i'm super excited!

become the man you're meant to be Toshio!!!!
