| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Sindbaduuuu!!! If I have seen this wayyy back when it was released in 1962, this movie would have been good, but sadly I wasn't even a figment of my own parent's imagination yet. Osamu Tezuka even participated in it by doing the screen play so it might have been worth watching then. IMHO overall it was just OK, having both good and bad points on the basis of who's watching when. I think it was good because kids back then might have liked it or perhaps even today. On the other side, I think it was bad only when compared to our current standard. The art and animation might have been good (again for it's time), the plot was a cardboard cut-out with lots of holes, the pacing was erratic, the VAs were fine but the sounds were so-so. Oh my, here I go again, I turned this into a review. Gomen nasai. |

| I have no hate for older animation like this, I don't expect a piece from the early 60s to be like modern anime, which one of the two reviews tells me I must if I don't like this. But this was a frustrating and convoluted mess. It barely managed to tell the story it was trying to tell, there was a lack of any sort of motivation for about anything that happened. I don't expect deep complex story telling from a children's film from the 60s, but dear goodness. This seems to be a problem with most of these early Toei animations, kinda wish there were more surviving full length animations from this time. Also, as for the "as a kid it might be ok" argument, I personally think as a kid it would have had trouble holding my interest, it's meandering, it's constantly losing focus and it's attempts to be cute or humorous are kind of just dull. |

| LOL this was hot garbage everybody! and to top it off it has a musical for scenes :( 3/10. i've have seen better from toei 60's movies btw -smh- |
