| Still no confirmation on Mayu's true subject of affection, only hints. Norio feels kind of like an author avatar/self-insert. A writer, dated Kineta (a rich senior) and broke up with her, but he's still classy enough to let her save face by saying that she's the one who dumped him. I don't think Norio is really a siscon at all, although Kineta resembles Ushio to suspicious extent (mostly her hair and body type). No, I think he just takes his role as Ushio's guardian very seriously. Of course, that doesn't mean he shouldn't allow himself to date, but I understand that he prioritizes Ushio. Finally, it's confirmed that their parents aren't just "gone" in the sense that they work abroad; they're deceased. Norio isn't just looking after her temporarily, he's really all she's got. It seems that Ushio lost her grandmother as well, which is how Norio ended up as her guardian. I only mention these things because I appreciate that Ushio's personality and the losses she's suffered seem to align in an authentic way. |
