| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Great episode, better than the last one. I'm glad they did a flashback sequence with grandpa, b/c after last ep I was like WTF? Fights were especially good this episode, the end fight was the best. I love the way they "Activate?", or engage the mechs. Sexy Sayaka moment: "Arigatou, Bossu~~" Epic GAR Handshakes FTW!! :/ Urahara Out!! |

| Great avtion, but i guess that was the plan: to let the poor videogames-only Kaiser finally shine on video like its forefathers. Not so happy about striking Tetsuya out of the spotlight. 5/5 Manga-look grandpa is the best. |
| Good episode. A lot more Kouji than in the first one. A lot of action, all beautifully animated and it really feels like Mazinger Z/Great Mazinger on steroids, which is great. I love all the appearances of classic Mazinger Kikaiju. It's really easter egg galore. A bit of a shame Jun doesn't join the action, since she's always been one of the more interesting characters in the franchise, and her dutybound, stoic attitude in the face of overwhelming odds is always a really nice contrast to the cocky gloryhounds Kouji and Tetsuya or the comically inept Boss, and Jun tends not to fall into damsel-in-distress situations nearly as frequently as Sayaka does. Boss is always great though. I love that they play up the facial expressions of Boss Borot even more than ever before. Boss and Boss Borot are definitely among the highlights of this OVA so far. |
