Thankfully, it wasn't another flunk like the last episode. Though still not as good as earlier episodes, anyways, well... whatever.

I think this was an important episode for Yume as she learned what one can do if one fails certification exam.

What feels like nothing can happen to be a lot. From the beginning we're pestered with the theme of failure, with non mages(the students and graduates at the beginning) and mages such as Inoue who have a dream they may never reach. I think this, paired with the theme of running away from possible failure with Inoue, was about both telling the audience, and having Yume realize that no matter what you shouldn't back down from your dreams. And to understand that failure is always possible, but there isn't only one path. So just because she will(and with her the audience) have the possibility of failure, even to something central to her and our lives, we should never preemptively give up, nor assume failure is the end. Like with Endo, there is always another path for us to take in life! The only way we can truly end in failure is if we give up. Or, I may be reading into this too much, although I sincerely don't think I am. Good episode.
