Interesting starting episode. I didn't quite get a lot of what went on with all the terms this episode. All I know is the ship is going down and a lot of people are gonna be screwed. As for characters, I'm not too fond of Kouji. He seems like he's too easily provoked and ready to snap at any minute. Everyone else is alright so far. I'm most interested in the girl in the strange pink clothes. The background music was kind of crappy. Intro was great though and outro was OK.

The music in Ryvius was widely hyped at the time for being hip-hop and such, there's like two good tracks on the whole OST. There's a lot of trash music (and songs) which, IMO, lets the series down and doesn't really fit with the mood of it at all, given the generally dark storyline.

Still, the series itself is reasonably good. ^^

Kouji is the manliest character on board the ship in my opinion. But you probably won't feel that way until the end.

The music on the OST is great. I own it. It's probably just not your type of music.

Well, I guess I'll eventually see about Kouji. The music on the other hand I might have to tune out mentally if it doesn't get better in the next few episodes.

No idea what's wrong with the music, I absolutely love the OST. It was composed by the same person that handled Crest / Banner of the Stars' OST's as well. The hip-hop stuff was definitely a little weird, but there's far more orchestrated stuff here on the OST ... and besides, I thought the funky/downbeat hip-hop fit the mood of the series really well (coming from someone whom pretty much hates this kind of music).

Me either, the music is standard orchestral score as far as I could tell, and pretty decent. Of course there's weird hip hop-ish noise in the beginning and the ad break, but thats hardly worth getting irritated by.

Awesome first episode, I thought. Good introduction to a whole host of characters, all developing nicely, a bit of danger thrust into their lives. The only negative thing was that I still dont know what Geduld or whatever the cloud thing is, but I'm sure explanations will be coming.

Ha! I knew the thing everybody would be talking about was the music. It just stuck out so much, lol. Hip hop in outer space, our ship is going down and we're just *wicca wicca* groovy

Pretty good so far, I like the hip hop actually.

That was a pretty impressive first episode if you ask me. Good character introductions, interesting world building, tense atmosphere all in 25 minutes. Look forward to more explanations on whats going on soon.

Dat OP song~

Well I got a lot of questions so far so hopefully this anime will answer them sooner or later. Lovely themes so far though and for an older series, the animation is fairly decent.

So . . . The younger brother is kind of a jerk. However I think the weird thing in pink was implying that the reason he was being a jerk at the end was because he was worried about his older brother (I think) . . . Aoi though seems to kind of be on Yuuki's side, holding him on a pedestal while belittling the older brother, that certainly won't lead to anything good.

This is essentially a re-watch for me, so I'll definitely keep it spoiler free.

Interesting first episode. The first thing that really struck me was the huge number of characters. Kouji and Yuki basically act like they're supposed to act, as borderline angsty teenagers. Yuki especially doesn't like his brother acting as a nice guy (for reasons the anime will reveal later). There is definitely a sense of urgency (in a good way) right from the very first episode. The Liebe Delta seems to be attacked by some external party, with the initial damage being done by some snakes on our very own ship. Needless to say, the girl in the strange pink clothes, seemingly saying 'obscure' stuff will play a huge part in the storyline.

Regarding the OST, I think Ryvius overdid with the hip hop tune at times, particularly when something less upbeat would have done a better job. Just a minor gripe if I'm being honest.
The OP is one of my favs though.

Lots of stuff happening, quite jarring at first because they show tons of characters and not much introduction to the world.

I'll see how this goes though.

Very good first episode. I liked the little conflicts that are bound to happen when young people are put together in a cramped space and in nerve-racking circumstances.
I also liked the animation, considering this show is almost twenty years old. Ditto for the character design.
The story seems promising, but whether that promise will be fulfilled remains to be seen.
I didn't hear the music as such, which means it was perfect for the scenes it accompanied.

Pretty effective pilot episode. A little confusing the and the OST's a bit wonky. Solid introduction that gets right into things. Liked the OP and liked the ED albeit slightly less.

Pretty intriguing start. The sense of threat was captured well and there's a lot of potential for conflicts between the characters. I have high hopes for this anime. Hopefully it won't be a let-down.

i'm disappointed that i have never heard anyone talk about this anime, even when this checks out completely what kind of sci-fi anime i would want to watch... even down to the era. i possibly have heard of the word "ryvius" in the past. i don't know.

it's very good so far, but i was taken aback by the soundtracks. i even thought i was watching some sort of edited bootleg episode and legitimately googled up the episode to see if it's the same on another site - it was. i guess the bgm just plays... over scenes... can't tell if it's supposed to be this loud compared to the actual dialogue audio. it's so jarring and why is it hip-hop/groove?!

there's serious shit going down, characters arguing or relaying information, and all you can hear is groovy music floating around like nobody's business. it's really not my taste and brings the atmosphere up, when it should be a little more dark... i must be too used to sci-fi and mecha anime having gloomy, riveting, orchestral, violin, and piano BGM's instead. you know, like those osts thundering up to a poignant violin solo as the pilots are in anguish over deciding to sacrifice their comrades or something.

other than that, the art style/animation is perfect. it's right there.

It’s a terrible thing for people to die. How can you be so frank? Very good foundational episode. Good technology and gadgets. Interesting consepts. A lot of characters but I assume that is justified by the story. 5

absolutely dreadful. way too many "characters" with almost zero personality, endless meaningless technobabble. the most interesting concept was the train in the very beginning you have to step down into. utter snoozefest, a 1ep drop for me. no points.

The music is bopping from the get-go, it looks like I'll enjoy this atmosphere.
