So shadow beats another "master" or somethin (I jus read this & I forgot wut they're called lol) by seemingly usin a new ability he got from the "wishing orbs" called "doom surf". Doin this allows maria to finally C the things around her includin shadow but she still can't touch him at least. It's assumed doin 1 more of these will get her to touch again so the plan is to continue as they have. Maria is worried bout how battered shadow seems but he doesn't care & is focused on doin the next thing. Maria also notes how incredible it is for her to be in a location that isn't the ark. Usually when she isn't doin tests to cure her or studyin she's bedridden due to her illness or starin at the earth longingly wit shadow as she wishes to experience it herself. Always stuck seein the same facilities & prob ppl too. Gettin to experience this new stuff is elatin to her but she's still worried bout shadow. Shadow finally gets the last orb I believe & thus is ready to go to the next master. He doesn't know where that is tho until his lil buddy guesses it's underground. Soon after they're sneak attacked from the very spot they pointed to on the ground. The ground at said spot falls & as they go in the newly made hole new enemies pop up & shadow assumes they're the next master. He pummels a few & hits the bottom on a piece of rubble over some liquid u might assume is water at 1st. The real master pops up to attack shadow from behind but is countered & greets shadow wit a sense of familiarity but shadow doesn't know him at all. It's noted by the lil guy they look identical. The master is a lil surprised by shadow bein unaware of some former relationship they had & formally introduces himself as Mephiles the Dark. He says he'll commence battle to kill shadow so that he may have his "wish" granted but it's never revealed wut that is. Mephiles sinks into wut shadow describes as a "mire"(the liquid substance) & uses some spear like weapon like a large deadly shark fin. Hindered by the sludge shadow is still able to jus barely counter but this doesn't last. Mephiles takes the upper hand & combos shadow wit more of those weapons from below. As shadow is knocked to the sludge surface it's shown mephiles can create clones of himself & that's how more of the weapons were made to catch shadow off guard. Mephiles says he created the "bog"(again same sludge liquid) & that means he can do anythin in that area. It acts as his "limbs". He uses all this to make himself more powerful & as he states this he transforms into this demonic beast like thing. He gloats to shadow bout wut it means to have "true power" & calls him powerless which in particular ticks shadow off so to prove the last claim wrong shadow uses another of his new powers. The "doom morph" specifically transforms & allows shadow to "swim" around the sludge wit a similar amount of ease as mephiles & wit that he blows through mephiles & pounds him into the ground defeatin him & causin mephiles's sludge to disappear. Punishin mephiles for gettin in his path. Mephiles now defeated cannot grant his wish which he expresses frustration over. Shadow inquires him over this & mention the "wishing orbs" to which mephiles states he was told that in this realm if he were to gain the power necessary & defeat shadow his wish shall be granted. Nothin more. Shadow asks who told him this & mephiles states it was a being called "Black Doom". Shadow is surprised as he's never heard of this person before. In a fit of found hilarity mephiles bursts in laughter & states somethin must truly be wrong wit his memory if he doesn't even recognize such a name. Mephiles describes the importance BD has to shadow as that of a parent. He asks shadow if it's time to question his own memory & this puts shadow in deep thought for a moment over all that's been said up to now. It doesn't last as shadow goin over wut he knows realizes his buddy is now missin all of a sudden & he hears a scream not too far away. Once he gets there he 1st finds maria shoutin to him over somethin & almost immediately after notices somethin over her. He shouts for it to get away from maria & asks for it's identity. A demonic figure floatin overhead mentions never introducin themself formally. This is the entity mentioned before to be known as Black Doom.
Art is solid as usual. I kinda wish we got the previous master shadow defeated before mephiles they skimmed over it & I don't really know y. I would've liked to C more even if I know wut it's bout. As for wut we DID get it was honestly really good & does somethin I didn't expect & I'm wonderin wut they'll do wit that element. The development we get in maria likin that she's in a place so unlike wut she's been used to all her life is nice. It's short but it does a lot, especially as a player of the games this. does. a. LOT. The mystery bein built is nice, the fights R cool, & we're enterin a new stage where we really start to learn wut's goin on & y it's happenin. This actually might be the best chp. yet tbh which is cool & means it could get even better. We'll C how it goes. As a player the fights R also done plenty faithful tho I wish they showed a bit more of the stuff in regards to stages from the game & not jus the bosses. That's my main issue but at this rate it may not get rectified & I'll jus have to be fine wit that. Oh well ig...
