Like the other person said, it's like Superman Glasses kinda disguise doesn't seem to us viewers much different but for the characters the distinction between two persons is very much. So same applies to Chizuru no one would think a nerdy , pigtailed & four eyed girl is one of most ideal girls in the series

As other said, this is a show where you don't need your brain, you just have to watch and enjoy. But if you really want to use some logic, the Superman's glasses technic can be a way to explain that but it had some flaws and the characters were aware of that. mizuhara didn't want someone close to her to meet her in girlfriend mode because they would have recognised her. Example in Season 1 during the Beach episode, mizuhara didn't her friends to see her in girlfriend mode and her granny who knows her well if she had seen in girlfriend she would instantly recognised her.
Concerning Kazuyas's friends the logic is that they only paid attention to the hottie version of the girl and only saw her nerdie version only a few times and didn't really take a look on her and even thought both of them spent a lot of time with mizuhara girlfriend mode they never made the link.

no one recognises her, they are background character, and kazuya is not that clear, so, like someone said it's Superman disguise, it only works on chizuru, but it's doesn't matter because this whole show is shit

oh yea about that . . . it happens in real life too. I changed my glasses once without telling my sis and in school I found her asking me if you knew who "her brother" was 😂
