Volume Five, Chapter Four; the twenty-third numbered chapter in total
AKA Despair In The Holy Land

Well, it sucks to be Sahara, huh? Another chapter where she gets served a fresh, hot L xD Imagine; your enemy doesn't even acknowledge your presence and history, but still wants to beat you to a pulp, heh (._. )' So, she's now died twice since volume one and I wouldn't be at all surprised if she dies again... Good to see more variety in the combat tools that the various characters have at their disposal as well; it made reading this chapter's combat sequences really fun.

Menou's battle with Flare was certainly interesting, though I'm aware that Japan has subsequent volumes, I was totally expecting one of the two to be killed at the end of that head-to-head. Interesting that Flare opted for mind games as her game-changing tactic, even more interesting is that it managed to effectively completely rewrite Menou's outlook on everything, no wonder she was unable to deliver the fatal strike; she probably views Flare as a sort of mother figure, for better or for worse...

I do still wonder; Manon must have a plan to use the protagonists' efforts as a stepping stone to get to Japan, though I'm still yet to get a solid theory as to how that would happen...

The reunion at the end of the chapter was pretty hilarious, heh. Momo finding Sahara dragging Menou and knocking her out, with a single punch to the face xD
Menou having an Ashuna moment made me laugh "All right... Let's go destroy the Holy Land, shall we?". I could totally imagine Ashuna feeling a disturbance in the universe as a kindred spirit declares their intent to do the very things that she wanted to do a few chapters earlier.

The former monastery trio are now resolved to reunite with Akari, though the title for next chapter makes me suspicious. Next up; the last main chapter for this volume; The Land of Salt.
