Mizushima has faced not 1, but 2 competitive demons, and he's clearly not at that level to compete professionally yet.

Despite that, the Higashiyama twins are doing as well against the Yusa-Yokokawa duo, which shows their improvement from the very beginning, even if there are lapses from time to time which shows the extent of growing experience for all. Even winning a game is noteworthy, but the final result is everything.

To Mizushima, he's still the only one lagging behind, and the Yusa, upholding his promise to Rika is everything to maintain her brother's performance. And in comes one more term of Inter-Highs against Hojo High, and the Higashiyama twins wants full vindication from their brutal loss towards Okazaki and Amimura, which their performance is much better than when the Hojo High pair faced both Mizushima and Sasaki.

But Mizushima is still stuck in his rut, and as much as his dad is participating in the stands this time, starting from the singles match to win or lose, all he can do is to perform to his very best with his family's support behind his back.

Once you give up, there's no turning back.

At the risk of sounding like a parrot: holy moly, the pacing. And the direction. Speeding through everything. Having trouble keeping up with what's what, because it feels like most of the time it's just straight to a semifinal or a final - parts, or the entirety of even those are just skipped, and then BAM we're at the next one already. Like... geez.

Yusa only won that doubles match because he realized Rika was watching haha. Seeing him all excited because he got a compliment (?) from Rika was funny. He’s usually kind of a dick, but she throws him one kinda sorta compliment and he’s like creaming his shorts in excitement lol. He was on fire training Ryo!

But anyways, the twins played pretty well considering. They won one game, so there’s that. I like that they didn’t get too discouraged and pushed for they rematch against the loudmouth and his “translator” lol. It really is a mind game as much as a physical one. Ryo needs to snap out of this funk, otherwise he’s toast. Just needs to find that intensity or at the very least his reason for playing.

All in all a good episode, that little moment with Ryo and his dad at the end was pretty heartwarming.

damn rotten prince such a simp xd. Wishing for Hana to just told the damn Ryo to blow his frickin wind. Alas since the wind itself was just a fiction output, that's a nice touch using Papa to create such an emotional matter to close the episode. Though, the next episode kinda tickling me more where they decide to now utilize Kajikaji bro teaching Ryo a good lesson about blowing wind. Whatever the output, let's see next!

The usual pacing complaints aside, a decent episode. Events happened and I liked some of them.

I've to admit that Mizushima is very annoying in this episode, but he has all the right to be annoying. One word, teenager, oh another word also describe him, puberty. In this age they can be temperamental, they're experimental, they're figuring it out what work best for them, in fact I kinda surprised at myself how I can go through my teenage without any emotional breakdown, but I completely understand others, including Mizushima. I think he begin to realize that his strong point is not about exuding a killing aura, but to never give up.

On the other hand, I also have another view on this situation. What if... what if Mizushima can't win Yusa but the reason is not about his mental problem, what if it's actually the author. The author might want to save a big victory at the very last page (as the original source is light novel), a typical stereotype for sports genre, so instead of making Mizushima win against Yusa here, the author make him lose, fill with a convincing reason that Mizushima doesn't deserve a big win against a big boss yet, but we all know that those reasons are made up so that he can win against Yusa in the bigger stage, an inter high.

I'm beginning to sound too meta, too self-conscious, so let's talk about lighter thing. Like how Yusa is completely on the palm of Mizushima's sister. I feel like they've a real potential for a long commitment relationship, including marriage. Yusa is not a kind of guy who easily have a crush on girl just to abandon her later, I think he think a lot before dedicating his hard work for her, I think he already calculate that she's the one that deserve his sweat and blood. But it's gonna be fun when Mizushima and Yusa become brother-in-law LOL.

see these little moments are what makes love all play good. if only they do more of these, have better pacing and actually animate their matches lmao. but this was a nice ep, i liked how we got hana showing her concern but at the end she wasn't the one who "helped resolved the problem" ig, bc well she doesn't need to be the one who does so? let mizushims's family shine more as well as him for himself

Oh I forget to mention that Yusa sounds exactly the same as Dark Schneider from Netflix's Bastard. Same voice actor.

Don't be afraid, if you already fear it from the start that means you already losing.
