---(Volume two, chapter five; ninth numbered chapter in total)---

Well, I was wondering how this volume would wrap up and my word was it something...

So, as I'd suspected from earlier chapters, Pandæmonium indeed had been let loose on the world, though even more alarming is that it's revealed to be only a tiny fraction of the actual Human Error. We now have (or Akari has rather) quite the puzzle on our hands, as;

• It's suggested that Akari's usage of worldwide regression is what warped space-time (ah, yes - the old warning about disrupting the space-time continuum, heh) and caused the seal for Pandæmonium to fracture.
• Akari uses it to ensure that she is killed by Menou, by regressing the world when this doesn't occur (presumably Menou being killed before Akari)
• Continued use would theoretically bring Akari closer to her goal of dying at the hands of her friend but would also definitely bring her closer to becoming a human error and/or releasing a stronger Pandæmonium upon the world (as if the one remaining offshoot wasn't bad enough), which has timeline implications

Akari's mess aside, it was nice to see the tag-team between Ashuna and Menou :) I hate to admit it, but I think Ashuna might have been the MVP for this chapter, simply owing to her presence, timing and support of Menou, despite her reservations. Also, her concern for Momo is kind of adorable...

The other slightly concerning thing from this chapter is that Menou is suggested to have taken Pandæmonium's bait and is considering heading to the sword of salt. I can't help but think this is a fool's errand, if the volume one epilogue is anything to go by (where we relive a memory of the site of the sword of salt, both Momo and Menou die, with Akari being on the brink of being killed by Flare, wielding the sword of salt)

As the Epilogue takes place after Chapter 5, I presume it's off-limits for discussion in this thread. Well, I guess it's time to buy volume three... :)

f I'm not mistaken, the anime adapts up to (including) this chapter, but I can't imagine it being as descriptive as the LN, so I might end up skipping it, heh
