Koki vs. Ryo for the last selection of the singles' Ranked Matches, and it's a match played to the closest of calls for Koki to win the match. To get a 5th overall place in singles, that's commendable enough for Koki.

Ryo getting 13th out of 16th place in singles is a decent try, but to the average Joe it isn't good enough, and that's even considering that he wants keep his promise to play against his middle-school friends over from Enayama. And what a coincidence for Koki to be having his meals in Shohei's family restaurant, that's typical of the loner life with divorced parents that are out working overseas.

Everyone has their own preferences of playing either singles or doubles, that's their own thinking to what's best for them. They finally got their lockers to themselves which were long overdue, but it's surprising to know that the Higashiyama twins were once young baseball team players winning matches in their own regard, winning the doubles ranking matches in 2nd with perfect coordination.

The Inter-High tournament commences, awaiting results.

Absolutely loved this episode. Always nice when the anime takes the time to take us "behind the scenes" and show little episodes of the characters' everyday lives, and this one does it especially well, showing/revealing families as well as where and how they live. The interactions are great too, inconsequential as they may be, it's kinda refreshing to just see their personalities bloom on screen for a change, without arguments or hostility or mockery or any other unnecessary interpersonal drama. An easygoing, goofy bunch who are there for each other no matter what and not make a big deal out of everything. Might change in future, but it's nice to actually see some of the groundwork being done.

Pacing definitely suffers for it apparently, as expected, seeing how we're basically fast forwarding things for the next episode... Which, by the way, interesting titles. This one was "two people" - mostly Sakaki and Matsuda; next it's "twins"...

Almost for Mizushima, but its to be expected from him to create such a tiny failure like that considering the rank actually pretty much not contributing well to his position for the incoming qualification. Even Matsuda actually realized with the three game format, he would be lost eventually. So yeah its related how he felt so frustating and Sakaki just be there to giving an ease for Matsuda. Good for them, honestly...

Next day, the twins manage to got an honor to join the senior lineup to fights on the inter-high qualifier over the double position. Huge reach for the first-year, but its not truly over for their journey as the next episode dedicate to know more of them both. So, yeah, better luck next time Mizushima!

I love that Sasaki's family is an athlete family. His parents are also badminton couple, and one of his brother is a basketball player. And they're all hot, especially his dad is DILF LOL.

As a badminton player since I was a kid, this show is such a pure joy to watch. Today's episode is so wholesome and warm, it made me missed the times I was still in high school, playing badminton for the sports festival.

I'm glad that Koki won, but I understand why he wasn't so happy about it. Frankly, I wouldn't feel satisfied either. But he eventually placed top 5, which is great.
A bit concerned about his leg though. Hopefully he'll be okay.

Also, poor Akira (Uchida).
