| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Wow, I was so looking forward this anime and it met the majority of my expectations. I LOVE the color usage. I'm not crazy about the SFX or the movement of the animation but otherwise the voice acting and the art itself is great. I was a little peeved that they showed YAAAAAAAAAAAAYY VAMPIRE KNIGHT!!! ^____^ |

| Oh yeah! I watched the RAW on veoh.com... it was sooooo good in my opinion... and I totally agree about the op and ed song! My favorite part was definitely the art... from some pictures I had seen Zero didn't look as good as he does in the manga... but once I watched it I was totally wrong! Zero looked WAY hotter in the anime in my opinion! *drool* Especially when he took his shirt off! OMG, I about died! lol <-- jkjk... but it was still hot! ;) Kaname even looked about the same in my opinion... although I'm not a big Kaname fan is probably why I focused more on Zero's looks... lol ^_^' But all-in-all I freaking loved it and I can't wait for them to come out in America so I can buy them! T_T |
| I liked it quite a bit. It was also interesting to see everything in color. Rarely do I read a manga before I watch the anime, so I don't get this experience a lot. And some color choices were different from what I always thought they would be. The seiyuu choices were good. And yeah, I also agree the OP was better than the ED. |
| OP = win Voice acting = major win ED = not horrible Art in general = sweet Animation = eh, okay But who cares because VK has finally started!! And overall a great start in my opinion. I’m totally looking forward to next week. I'm going to try really hard to not get my hopes up too high early on though. XD |

| OMIGHOSH!!! It's exactly how I thought it would be! And I must agree that it's so awesome being able to see it in color and in motion. =^_^= The hair colors and such were the same as I had pictured them to be, which is awesome. So hot! *Droooool* I totally can't wait for the second one to come out. I want it now already...LOL! :P P.S. I LOVE your sig and avatar Icephoenix. ^_^ |

| First impression = Very Good! I'll admit the animation quality was a bit sub-standard, especially on characters that are in the background of a scene, they look a bit rushed. But for most of the close-ups there was plenty of detail, and it won't bother me or anything. I'm just happy to see this show starting! Zero looks better in the anime than in the manga, whereas Kanama is vice-versa. (and I'm more of a Kaname fan ;P). Yuki seems...different somehow, I think it might be her hair. Still, like I said, I'm quite pleased by it so far. I really love the opening (both song and visuals), I thought it was well suited to the show. The ending song was a little bit dull, but I really loved the creepy scenes of Yuki and the rabbit toy with the red eyes. I can't wait for a group to pick up the subs for this, though at least I had a general sense of what was going on since I've read the first 3 mangas. Oh, and I was also a bit shocked that they showed a certain something with Zero so soon. Even in the manga it didn't happen for a little bit. But I guess they want to up the pacing or something. *shrugs* |

The elegance is gone (the vampires movement felt more abrupt and standoffish to me than beautiful) and poor Yuuki is just awkward. I do not think Zero looks better than in the anime. He looks better than what they did to my poor Kaname (can you tell who I like more? xD), but I don't think he's better than the manga at all. I think Mamoru's got his attitude down pretty close, though... as for Kaname's seiyuu.... I'm still reserving my opinion. But Yuuki? Argh, it's like a different character altogether. The seiyuu isn't doing a bad job, but her neck is crazy skinny, and what happened to her hair and face?? She doesn't even resemble her. It's like they spent most of their time trying to focus on the guys' hair, and figured hers didn't matter at all. Ack. As long as the animation doesn't get worse as the series progresses. And Takuma being blonde? That threw me off. I must have missed that somewhere. Speaking of blondes, I think they did a good job with Aidou - keeping him up to his character. The others, we'll have to wait and see :D I was surprised when I saw the pills, and the blood at the end irritated me. The few hints in the OP were unexpected and well done. The ED was alright, but I have to agree with MistressMorbid - the creepy rabbit toy was interesting, haha. The SFX and background music were meh, but the images of the Academy and surrounding grounds was more detail than we ever got -- I loved that aspect of it. ...Now to watch it with subs when they come out ^^ |
| well.. i felt that the anime was way darker than the manga.. i didn't like the animation at all..and whats up with their eyes? <_< but i guss they did a good jop for the 1st ep.. i hope the next one will be even better.. since i didn't really like this one much.. it didn't go to my expectation.. |

| I've never been a fan of the seiyuu Daisuke Kishio, but I heard VK's audio dramas and he honestly did a really good job. When I was thinking of seiyuu before I even glanced at the audio dramas, I thought Mamoru Miyano would've been the perfect Kaname o.0 I was shocked that he voices Zero in the dramas. But surprisingly, the switch was really good. I'm sure they'll both pull it off well for the anime. :] Also, I LOVE Jun Fukuyama as Aidou. |

| So I wasn't the only one who thought Mamoru would have made a good Kaname ^^ I was surprised as well. But as I said before (and you have said), I think he's doing a good job of Zero. But this is Mamoru we're talking about, he does great at any character he plays :P I forgot to say, they animated the Chairman pretty good! In fact, I think he was the best done out of all of them :P |
| FukuJun was so good as Aidou, but he was different than for example Lelouch or Kei from SA. I almost made a mistakes and thought that Fujita Yoshinori voices Aidou-senpai XD;; I never thought there will be some superdeformed and I was a bit shocked, but SD were cute (Aidou-senpai~) <3 Also 'punch' and 'push' scene XD I almost cried, cause it was fun. Music was good, I liked opening, but ending wasn't as good as OP. Vocalist has a really really weird voice o.O And I love how they did character designs, it was done much better than in Special A :) |

| er....I didn't notice the animation in so much detail, shoujo manga rarely translates 100% well into anime and in my opinion they already did a very good job by managing to retain some of the creepy feel and also keep the comedic elements. Also, I already loved seeing them animated anyway. Voice acting? nothing to complain about that, thought all of them nailed it perfectly, I imagined Kaname's voice to be rather gentle and smooth with probably a hidden undertone anyway. As for Yui Horie, Miyano Mamoru and Fukuyama Jun....well of course no complaints! Also did like the OP and ED, although the latter was really rather creepy...but hey we are talking about emo vampires here, it fits perfectly. If this goes any longer maybe Ali Project will be doing the songs =p Very satisfied with the first episode, hope this keeps up |

Yuuki seemed a little bit childish to me and Kaname not enough hot XD Voice actors are love tho and animation wasn't that bad, but I didn't like that art in some moments... Why Shiki looked hotter than Kaname.... T_T And OP ish just love. I loved that song after first hearing it (promo) <3 And ED isn't bad either~ Looking forward for next eps, anyway. |

| wow. this was as bad as i expected it to be xD the opening song is horrible as well as the opening animation sequence. the plot is, well, vampire knight lol. i tried to read the manga a few times, but it was so boring and ridiculous that i always gave up after 10 pages or so. guess i'll never know why do things like this become popular... |

| As expected Mamoru nailed Zero and I have to say that Fukuyama was pretty good as Aido. Horie yui was rather nice as Yuuki as well. Nice adaption so far and I'm in the Yuuki x Zero camp! |
| That was pretty cool. I really like the OP and the ED, especially the animations! Guess it's clear that Zero is a Vampire too, or some kind of half-Vampire. I'm looking forward to the next episode. |

| For starters I felt that it was horribly written, not as bas as Zaizen Jotaro but still pretty stop. The over use of voice overs is just killing it. We know what happened in the character's past, you already showed us, stop telling us. We know how characters feel about other characters, we can see it in how they act, stop telling us like we're 6 and can't figure it out. Second, the jokes are just horrible. They break the pace of the drama that they're trying to build up, even though they primarily do it by those horrendous voice overs, and they're not funny. Anythnig that they have build up is automatically shattered by the placement of an extremly out of place bad joke. And finally, as I am a dude I'm not in it for the pretty guys which seems to be a huge draw for its female fanbase. I was just ok, the soundtrack makes up for a bit of the bad writing but it's still just kinda average. I'm slightly interested in some of the background character but I don't think I can stand another ep which is full needless monologuing. |

| I thought this was pretty damn good. I only read the first chapter of the manga a looo~ng time ago, so I don't have really any complaints while comparing both. To me, it was a great start, very nice animation, and good voice acting. Jun Fukuyama as that cheerful vampire was so great. Will definitely follow this, and it's potentially my favourite anime of the season. |
| Well ep 1 seemed to follow the manga to a T, including the cutscenes. The voices where better than i was expecting, and the animation was wonderful. I really enjoyed the ep, i love the op and eds but dam the ed. gives a bit too much away. |

| Okay, I watched it a minute ago with my friend who reads Vampire Knight too. Hmm.... I was really shocked because after I watched the trailer I thought it was going to be horrible. It was okay. The animation: WTF The voice actors and the songs: really good! (Miyano Mamoru was awesome and Fukuyama Jun too :DDDDDD) Zero looks like... shit T_________________T And they put some changes in the anime and it made me wanna kill them dgfkjhdgdfgjhfdkjgdhfgkj TT___________TT DIE |

| Well, it's an anime, it's bound to be different from the manga. Animation inconsistencies are bound to happen in every anime, and I personally thought the design was pretty close to Matsuri Hino's, and that's pretty hard in itself, because her style is really detailed. I think you're just being a bit too picky. Then again, most manga readers are when their manga becomes an anime, it's pretty upsetting, especially since this one is pretty well made, imo. |

| It was pretty good. I'm not a huge fan of the manga, so I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but for some reason it seems to work better for me as an anime. Maybe it's just that the voice acting was good. I liked the opening, but it wasn't anything amazing, and they definitely skimped out a bit on the animation in some of the sequences, but it was still plenty entertaining. I don't think I'm going to drop this. |

| yay!! i really like the music.... and the animation during the OP/ED sequences is pretty nice. the voicing is also good... i wonder how close they can keep it to the manga although, i didnt like how they added in random humour which wasnt really funny... they need to keep the emoness on a good level or else itd start to deviate from the manga.. =D |

| :( I was really looking forward to this show and it was a bit disappointing. If they had left out the not so funny jokes and the retarded moving animations that went along with them this would have been a whole lot better. Going to stick with it in hopes of the plot and characters holding up the show in spite of its wasted time on humor. |

| Overall, really liked this for a start. I only started the manga a few days ago, but I like the story. Voices are spot on, so loving that aspect! I also didn't notice anything horrible about the animation but sometimes I just ...don't notice things. Plus it helps that I wanted to like this :) |
| i thought it was a great episode. OP is awsome. the ED is creepy yet fitting to the series, not something i would listen to. Loved the voice acting with fukuyama jun and miyano mamoru. character designs are great. i think the animation is average i guess. the backgrounds are kind of plain imo. the funny moments were good. looking forward to the rest of it |
| As I've never read the manga I can't really compare it but I actually loved the first episode. Okay the animation could have been alot better but both the opening and ending themes worked well. I especially love the ending. I'm also loving the Vampire guys. Can't go wrong there ;] Can't wait till next week's episode. |

| Well... that was pretty disapointing. After all the hype going around the show I was expecting something good to turn up but what I did encounter was something average. Average storyline, at least so far. "Meh" comedy scenes. No character managed to peek my interest... and calling the animation average is saying the least considering nowadays standars. The music was in my view the only "plus" in the first episode. They also managed to fail bad even before two minutes had gone by... (click the spoiler..) In the first two screens you can see Kuran reaching out with a left hand & coat covered in blood. Yet in the next shot his left hand and arm no longer have that blood. And If that wasn't bad enough in the following shot he is helping Yuuki up with his right hand. Very nice.... (/sarcasm) Still, my curiosity is taking the best of me and I'm be checking to next episodes to try to figure out what all the hype is about ^^. |

| They showed Zero being a vampire/half vampire too early. It would have been better if it was shown in the later episodes. But that being said, it was an ok first episode. |

| Meh. While I read the manga, I'm not a crazy fan of it, so I didn't have my hopes too high. It's okay. *shrugs* The seiyuus are the best part. They did a very good job, I thought. I was torn with the animation. On one hand, it's very nice at times. But Yuuki... my goodness, what did they do to her? Her skin color looked weird half the time, and her hair was just horrid. She isn't nearly as cute as she is in the manga. ...I also laughed at the glowing red eyes. Lame~ But still, it was okay. I rather enjoyed most of it, especially the music (OP = love). I'll be looking forward to future episodes, anyhoo. |
