Another one-shot by Asano, but what did he really want to say this time? That the quarantine is pushing us to the limits? Just hang in there until Covid ends?

Yeah, it felt mostly like a teaser for something that could potentially become a very interesting full work exploring the collapse of human relationships during a global pandemic. The lamentation the protagonist feels due to falling out with his childhood friend, despite them presumably having more time to hang out now (since they're roommates), as well as the whole despondent hypersexuality Asano (one of his favourite calling cards) were all fascinating imo. Just underdeveloped and not very satisfying because of the short length.

It's really cool to see him embrace homosexuality beyond Ozanari-kun, too. I'm hoping there's more of this at some point.

Asano also dealt with homosexuality in Dead Dead Demons too...

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about (it happens in one of the newest chapters, the kiss), then sure, fair. That was the moment that cemented DeDeDeDe as a favourite for me. Took a while to get there, though, and it's very underplayed all things considered (again, if we compare it to this and Ozanari-kun). Not that that diminishes it, of course, but it's a far cry from the abrasive depressive heterosexuality we're used to from him.

Other than that, I don't remember anything else.

Yeah, I was talking about the kiss. And yeah, compared to Ozanari, its definitely underplayed.

There was also this one-shot...

...but then again, like you said, I dont think Asano embraced homosexuality like Rabuka before.

Wait, what's this called? I don't think I've read it. Is it available in English? Looks really cool.

Its called "1999", I think. It was published in Big Comic Spirits (the magazine where Punpun and Dededede was published) in June 2019. It was also included in the new complete edition of What a Wonderful World.

I dont think its available in English. I dont even know if it was ever published digitally.

A day in the pandemic with the uncertainty of how long it might last, relating it to the dependency and comfortable routine one perpetuates.
You don't know when it might end up exploding, just like the pandemic. Short and Good.
I wonder how much it relates to his recent post-pandemic divorce.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
