I'm sad it's the last episode of the season...Time catch up on reading this I guess x) Hope we get a 2nd season.

I enjoyed the episode, though it felt short :') Yan Wushiiii T^T I want to smack the guy that sneaked up on him with his sword. Also, for a sec I was confused after the beautiful Phoenix scene. Like oh, are they worried for Yan Wushi in the end (and his awesome hair)... no silly they only care about about ring remember :x Ahhh I want to know what happens next, will Shen Qiao help him get better~ I also hope learn more about Bai Rong.

I'm also going to miss the ending song, I really liked it.

Sad the donghua ended there. I'm hoping for a season 2 and will most definitely be reading the novel from the beginning.

Honestly, I'm happy Shen Qiao kind of realized his feelings for Yun Wushi. Hopefully more to come if there is a season 2 (if there is one).

Loved It, Could Not Stop Watching.
The Longer Episodes helped The Story To Progress.
Not A Fan Of BL, So I Like To Think Of This As A Deep Friendship.
That Is Probably The Way The Chinese Would Have You Think.
Roll On S2.

The donghua was quite well made, beautiful character designs, nice soundtrack and really good voice acting. The animation is quite good, a lot better than most of 3D donghuas I've seen.
After completed the donghua, I went on to binge-read the novel. I love the writing style and how the author embedded the story in history, the political and religious conflicts, without making it too complicated to understand for those who don't know much about that particular part of chinese history. Unfortunately, the historic and political background get less focus in the donghua. I also like the wuxia style story telling of it.

While I do enjoy the dynamic of the main characters interactions, I honestly couldn't root for them as a couple as I'm not really fond of the abusive and manipulative nature of YWS and that he never felt remorse over his doings. As a character he's intriguing for sure, but he doesn't deserve SQ. That's probably one of the reason why I, for once, approve of the censorship here (and the donghua did tone down YWS malicious nature), bc I rather like them staying friends that respect each other and have sort of bromance relationship. I just don't feel the chemistry, not even in the novel, and I felt the author didn't know how to write their romance in a natural convincing way. Near the end of the novel, you could tell that the author kind of got lost or lazy. But it's still a very interesting read nonetheless. And since the novel also doesn't overly focus on the romance either, it can be also enjoyed by ppl who aren't necessarily into BL stuff. Same with the donghua ofc.

What I find interesting about the novel is, that the characters develop and adjust by learning from experiences without changing their inherent nature and principles. When you see in many stories how either the "bad guy" becomes "soft", or the "gentle guy" becomes bitter or even evil because of all the betrayals, but this is not the case with this novel and it's quite refreshing. This is esp true for Shen Qiao who is such a greatly written character. I like that he still stays gentle and forgiving despite being betrayed over and over again. But, he has his bottom line and can get ruthless if ppl overstep it, and he is neither frustratingly naive nor stupid. He also never become this sort of clingy and whiney uke, who seem to suffer some kind of stockholm syndrome, that I too often see with ukes with dominant/abusive/manipulative seme.
I'm looking forward to the second season but I hope that they will

I hope that the second season will include more of the political and religious conflict that are crucial in the novel.

Acho que é um dos melhores que assisti até o momento. O sentimento nos últimos minutos de episódio provocou uma ansia pela 2ª temporada. Espero que não demore tanto de publicarem.
