THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
It is outrageous how selfish Mr. Pendleton is.

He asks an 8 year old girl to abandon the aunt that took her in, only because she is the daughter and reminds him of Jennie.

In this anime the adults act like children and the children are more mature than the adults.

I wonder what that envelope for Jimmy contains. Why isn't he allowed to open it before he is either 30, in a time when the average male died at 55, or his death?

And why does that guy constantly speed around in his car? The 3 or so times we have seen him before the accident, all he did was speed around in his car.
Were there no speedlimits back then and no police to enforce them?
Speeding around in the middle of the town, with horse carriages everywhere, looks really dangerous. Where was the guy even looking? Not at the streets, that is for sure.

But this once again shows how easily distracted Pollyanna is. She starts doing something, sees something else and immediately switches her focus. It was the same with building Jimmys hut and the Doctor that passed by.

If you're annoyed at Mr. Pendleton because of that decision, try reading the last few chapters of "Pollyanna's Grows Up". You'll probably cringe.

It probably serves as a foreshadowing for a crucial moment in the next few episodes. Yeah, I agree it was a stupid idea to run a car fast even if there was no law about it. Judging from the reactions of the people who saw that, they knew it was dangerous to do that kind of thing.
