----------------------------------------
This chapter has layers upon layers of payoff! I had already spoken about why I like this arc for its exploration of Gin and unique and somewhat breathtaking gamble, but the smaller parts are excellent as well. The prediction of Narita being the most dangerous horse on Kono’s side was amply true as it raced forward and made the kind of comeback Gin had predicted! From there, the neck to neck race began but Okabe lost balance due to the sabotage that was set up back in the preliminary phase of this gamble, something I completely forgot about which made the instant realization of what was occurring all the more effective. While Gin refused to falter, it even appeared that we may have an underdog horse which has the capability to succeed when push comes to shove!!! There was definitely a level of moment-to-moment excitement during this race, and a really satisfying feeling of payoff from set up!

One of these layers which I hadn't mentioned yet because I wanted to save it for its own paragraph is Okabe’s motivation to support Gin! Gin really got through to him, and in the way that I feel Gin has recently gotten through to me as well. While he always appeared larger than life, the enchanting desire to stand with the man has become evident. He is deeply courageous and confident, yet humble, accepting the limitations of himself and the world and seems to embrace it all unflinchingly. He has lofty and clear ambitions which seem laughable on paper but he makes them plausible. Further those grandiose ambitions seem centered in a deeply human desire to seek fulfilment in the transcendence Morita once spoke about, and have the reach to exhibit power and influence the evils in the world however he sees fit. Just two chapters ago I ranted and raved about my newfound love for Gin, but this time, I wanted to express what about his aura draws me and the characters within the manga in.
