And the weight this circumstance has come crashing down. Morita, racked with guilt and regret, is not something entirely new, for instance I recall him feeling similarly when he let Aiga escape with his own safety in mind. And slightly less relevant, I think of his confrontation with Kawata and his happiness to realize it was him who was probably most relieved that no one died under his trickery. I think he looks for the best in people and wants to see it shine. But here's the situation where he worked for a coldblooded killer and helped facilitate numerous murders, and the murders of the people suffering most at that, one whose last words were that they were discriminated against while looking into the lifeless mask of their friend and brother. It's honestly traumatic and I'd imagine for him especially.

I think being painted such a bleak and fatalistic world view and participating in such an event to then have Hidemine of all people congratulate him was enough to make our boy snap. As if he adopted the sorrowful rage of those fallen for a brief moment before coldly looking through the other brothers. I don't think he wants an award for taking part in this, boys... He's had enough. The scene honestly reminded me a lot of episode 12 of Parasyte, you know the scene: 'my blood's still red.' It's this release of built up pain before simply walking away and turning it inwards. This song starting on my playlist as Morita beat Hidemine probably helped.

Also, when Morita was voicing his thoughts to Kunio and said there is no future in killing, it reminded me of Buraiden Gai and the discussion of power being what one uses to work towards a future; to dream of a tomorrow, contrasting using violence to ruin oneself.
