----------------------------------------
As the chapter was beginning I was thinking that Hidemine was an overly stern man focused on power, control and hierarchy, a man who could kill without flinching, who could face a horde without fear, basically a dangerous but competent leader. A man with integrity, who lived by his harsh standards! Yet the way this chapter began, while possibly not going against that conception, definitely made him out to be far more sadistic than I imagined. Later in the chapter he's described as a ghost, similar to the language of specter that Morita described Kuramae with! Despite the fact that Morita gave Hidemine a clean way out of this with no bloodshed, cracking the windows, leaving a letter, making it so there is no way the son's could get out of this without consequence, he rejected that. He took the pacifistic approach of Morita and twisted it! Instead making the letter a declaration of war rather than a forceful declaration of peace. In this way, it made for an interesting scenario. Morita has found himself in a bloody family war that will almost definitely end with death, one without any good guys. The sons trying to kill their father to disperse his rule and the father trying to, well, he said it better than I could ever:
Tonight is the night where the blood of the Kamui family finds a new path... By killing two dullards, I’ll create one powerful man…
Hidemine has targeted the human mind's weakest places, fear and desire, he is out to kill his children, and has corrupted his children's minds with ideas of betrayal, for self-preservation and greed. Something to keep in mind however is that when forming the partnership at the very beginning of this manga, Gin told Morita:
Make sure you hang onto that mindset of yours [...] to never kill another human being. You will soon realize that if you live in the underworld long enough... you'll meet plenty of people that you’ll truly want to kill. It happens to everyone. No, it's people like you that are most susceptible to that attitude, though there are people who can come away unaffected by killing others... you shouldn't follow their lead. We need a large world in order to live as human beings! If you kill people your world will never expand, on the contrary it'll end up collapsing around you…!

This quote felt incredibly forthcoming about a theme that would have to be played out within this manga. Being put directly in the middle of a hotel of murderers, it makes me wonder if this idea shall be coming up again soon.

Also, unfortunately my man Hidemine explicitly said that both of my theories were wrong. That the new patriarch will have to be one of the three, that the fourth son is garbage, and the rumor of another is nothing more than an assumption. Assuming this is truthful, it hurts!! I was really hoping this guy was looking to make his secret son Saori, or his metaphorical son that Gin has been preparing with Morita the next patriarch!!!
