This chapter reminded me of Ten’s Akagi twice. First, in the poetic usage of the term blasphemy. Akagi once described the act of being disrespectful to the game, and denying the result as ‘blasphemy’. It is not the same context but both cases were quite striking and powerful in their language. “Destiny has no if’s… This is, so to speak, a blasphemy against fate.” And second, a more superficial reasoning but the illegal kan! In fact an illegal kan used to scare the hell out of the opponent and make them fold. Charming stuff, Gin inspired Morita to the point of genuinely accepting his death and pushing Kuramae to the breaking point only to give him an ultimatum, a lesser evil to choose, and ended up with all of the politicians free.

Yep, this arc was super fun, it had the typical asshole set up to get beat down by a really badass finale tradition that we’ve gotten used to; albeit done very well, an interesting context, and a push to new ceilings from Morita. I hope I have the imagery of having a cold knife strapped to your stomach and the resolve to kill yourself if things go wrong stored in my mind. That is some strong imagery.

Now we ask the wonderful question, honestly my favorite part of the manga, where do we go from here? The possibilities are endless !

From here, can say it’s my favourite part so far. Took me long but once finished reading this series, will go back to re-read parts of Kaiji to refresh and catch-up (with the latest part-arc-etc, iirc volume 65 or 66).

Can’t wait to see what lies in store when starting volume 7. Crazy stunts were made so far and yet 5 volumes remain… ho ho ho ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ
