The English dub isn't that great. I'm just starting the series and I'm only using the English dub when I can't focus 100% on the screen.

How is this even a question?
Do you listen to metallica covers in spanish?
Do you listen to English version of rammstein songs??
Or do you listen to the original artwork the artists made??

I just watched the dubbed version first and it was okay.
But the moment I heard the subbed version, it was quite dramatic to hear it.
I prefer sub because I love to hear Japanese voices or if you just don't care, just watch dub to make your time more easier than reading the subs.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Well do you watch a film to read? Take the book or manga if u wanna read. Sersiously what a dumb elitist answer, many people dont like to read subs while watching.

The dub is okey but the original is better.

well I never think about "watching a film to read" since it's not really a concious efford to read the words unless it's a deeply philosophical anime that uses a lot of word play and weird words in wich case it might get a bit complicated to watch the sub on inglish and I would rather find a version with subs on my mother's tongue.
leaving that aside I've seen some anime in english, mexican and spanish dub and some where good, but lots of times you have unprofessional voice actors, voices that don't fit the characters or audio problems like the voices beeing overly loud or hard to hear.
tho I have to admit that in very few cases the dub can be a lot better like for example the mexican dub of dragon ball z or I also remember watching several episodes of ghost in the shell in english and it was remarcably how all voices fitted pretty well and they all sounded almost exactly like the origianl japenese voice actors.
