| great start, repetitive middle, then just went stale. mizu asato need to fix this tendency. his series actually start great. 6/10. |

| Another enjoyable but decent 6/10 manga from Asato Mizu. The first half was hilarious, and the later half of the story having a dramatic moment to Himi's death by saving Mei was awesome, but it's disappointingly short. With clumsy unsuccessful inhuman heroines who are after the soul of the blunt sharp male lead who is content with his job and cares about his livelihood while effortlessly avoiding death by death games with wit to workaround the host's flawed rules, the comedy of this story's concept is hilarious. It may have been unclear at first, or I misunderstood from my impression of expecting a death god to guide dying souls, but instead the modern business working of Death God, Demon, Angel, and Ogre, etc. needing to collect souls to live is very intriguing and fascinating as a concept. ... The subtle hint of potential romance was fun as well, but unfortunately never developed to anything legit, with Mei and Miyashita being the most obvious of having romantic feelings for Himi. While all of that being left out with nothing more, Kuro getting fired and wanting to build a better fair and kind death god system, with the alliance of angels and demons was another interesting concept and plot of this short story that was cut short, before it even began. The end then reveals an Ogre, as another inhuman creature on the same system of soul collection through death game ... which implies this cycle will continue, but we unfortunately won't know anything else. ... As her latest work, I'm disappointed that this was so underdeveloped, even though it has very good elements with great concepts and enjoyable characters and comedy that I'm always fond of as a fan. Either, she couldn't figure out how to have a better conclusion, wants it as a cliffhanger, had limitations from her editor, or was somewhat lazy in doing better. Although, she's still continuing Aharen-san wa Hakarenai so she must have intended to keep this short, but it wish she hadn't left it so underdeveloped. Nonetheless, it's still fairly good, but could have been better. What a shame. I'll continue reading her other work and finishing them all. Eager to read her next one, whatever it may be. |
