14 volumes in and we finally get down to Emilia's past. After reading all that I am left with mixed feelings because there is just too much Tappei is still not properly explaining, I get this feeling some details he will never address, like is Emilia a princess or not, and why the name of the room is
"Princess room"?! I m skeptical we will get such an answer, ever.
It has to be said that in this journey to the past, more questions are given than answered, wit vexes me a bit, will this dude properly tell us the whole picture one day?
Tying that to the plot of Frozen Bond too, which I just finished before finishing this volume, there were just too many gaps to my liking.
Echidna created Puck, foreseeing in the future Emilia would need it?! Why?!
It just doesn't make sense, if Tappei is leaving all this as a mystery to properly tie it together one day, when he explains the nature of Emilia's existence, what is behind the seal and why is Echidna having a part in this, all good...
(on another note, volume 15 also gives more info related to Puck's situation, which does help with my problem above, so hopefully, someday everything will be shed to light)
I already knew Petelguese was gonna show up, if you haven't seen spoilers, the cover is not enough, he changes that much after the trauma he goes through in this volume... I like his appearance, it feels like the writer just put him there due to being a fan favorite (maybe he already had some feedback from the WN when he planned this arc and saw people liked him), all good, but there are some questions this presents.
How was that body of his, which we see in Arc 3, still living and kicking with a time gap of 100 years?? Just how old is he, what is the origin, and how does it tie in with Beatrice??
Regarding that Melancholy asshole, I hate him in a good way, it feels like he might return in the very distant future.
I was saying I didn't care about Ryuzu and the clones last time, but this volume changed that for me, there was a genuine bond between Beatrice and the OG Ryuzy, which was hella adorable, as a backstory it was very interesting.
Regarding Roswaal's soul, my guess is he used Echidna knowledge to migrate his soul and incarnate on his descendants, after such a traumatic defeat, I guess that would be enough as his motivation to be this obsessed, it is fucked up, but this arc already made it clear how much of a devil he is.
Still, Pandora seems like the real baddy, the main antagonist for the whole series, aside from that piece of Trash Regulus, her powers are too OP, she rewrote the events so that Geuse's and Fortuna's attacks would all go towards the later instead, there has to be some kind of weakness to her powers, some loophole!
This outcome has me interested in Geuse's past, what happened to him before this event that shaped him to be like that, and the complete progression of him into insanity, there were tons of implications from Geuse that he carried some favor concerning Emilia and her family...
Concerning Emilia, the writer is trying to confuse the readers because the theory of truly being the "Witch's Daughter" holds some ground, BUT if that is so, that would make her Subaru's daughter, and I feel it is the love that Subaru shows Emilia that Satella was speaking of when speaking she had been saved by him and all, so that they are two distinct beings, I don't believe on it, is it just the writer's playing games with the plot and how he wants us to feel?!
Also, Emilia suddenly has this huge mana pool, as she went from relying on Puck too much to suddenly having all this potential, I dunno about that!
If she is to become Satella it would make sense, but the theory Satella was her mother and Fortuna's sister would mess all this up, it can't be since we are led to believe her mother was a pure elf, right? So it cant be Satella, her mother... too many questions leave me holding my head in frustration, but also further develop the mystery, making me more eager to know, provided they are all answered, I won't mind, time will tell.
Echidna's dialogue with Emilia only further adds to the confusion of what I have been speaking about, and then there is one last thing that irks me, there are 3 Trials to undertake, and it was never mentioned as a requirement for one person to do them all, so I had this impression and loved, that Subaru and Garfiel already did 2, so it was up to Emilia to conquer the last, it should be all good now, right?! NOT.
This Witch is too fickle for that, everyone's consensus is that Emilia needs to undertake 2 more trials?! Subaru and Garfiel conquered each a trial, I feel betrayed by my naive thoughts and the info previously given to us, it is like Echidna is nullifying Subaru's first trial due to being butthurt by getting that rejection!!
Ram and Puck vs Roswaal was a surprise, it makes sense how Tappei explained it but I would never have thought Ram would be the one to set things in motion with this clown, she was always following all his orders without questioning...
TBH I expected the plot to only progress to the mansion again on volume 15 so I was surprised with the quickening of the pace, setting up all those scenes and ending at that for the end of the volume was kinda cool, but I feel for people that caught up with volume 14 in the past, and the next release.
I would have gone and read the WN instead, fuck that.
