I have to admit I wasn't too interested in the story at first, but now that stuff is actually happening my curiosity has been aroused! This seems like a very classical murder mystery, so hopefully my experience with Umineko will pay off here. :P

Now there are only two solutions for every locked room murder:
1) There was no crime.
2) It was not a closed room.

The fact that the corpse was beheaded seems to be a clue that there was indeed a murder. It's an easy way to establish that there's no way the person is just playing dead, or still barely alive somehow. That said, there have been a few clues for tampering with the corpse: The unusual spot at which the head was severed, and some references to the corpse looking "comical", and not scary at all. So I think 1) COULD be possible at this point in time. Maybe no one actually died yet and this is a fake corpse.

The closed room itself is rather peculiar. The earthquake was incredibly convenient... maybe too convenient. But the paint barrier isn't actually that fool proof (pun intended). And the room reeked of paint thinner, so how hard would it have been to remove some paint footsteps after the deed was done? But that wouldn't be much in the spirit of a traditional murder mystery I guess. And at this point there hasn't really been a proper search of the room, or description even for that matter. That in itself could be another hint though, of no such proper investigation is conducted in the future: The solution to this mystery does not lie in the room itself.

As for motives, it would be pretty disappointing if the main suspect turns out to really be the culprit, so that probably won't be the case. Iichan and Tomo are the only ones who cannot possibly be the culprits (they are the detective or have an alibi provided by the detective respectively). The lady of the house definitely seems very suspicious, she seems to get a thrill out of the whole deal and actively sabotages the justice system. It's hard to imagine that she isn't to blame for what transpired in SOME regard, though that could be a red herring of course. The fortune teller is of course a prime suspect as well. Since fortunetelling is not real, she said some very incriminating shit earlier that day. But as for the how and why? No idea. Other than that they are all slightly crazy, assholish personalities.

I am not trying to solve this mystery at all costs, and if Umineko has taught me one thing it's that I am pretty damn incompetent. But it's fun to speculate, and maybe some future readers can find inspiration in my posts and try to solve this on their own. :D
