| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- ...woah. My first reaction to this chapter was... like, I had lost all respect for Kaiji right there. Of course these are strangers, but he was seriously trying to compare the worth of money to two human lives? And even after he won a shitload of money in the 17 steps game! Sure, it would still have been a pretty big amount, but he would have still been rich afterwards. I don't really follow Kaiji's reasoning here. I mean, I get it. A gamble without risk is not a gamble... but being so coldhearted was something reserved for the villains so far, not our hero Kaiji. But perhaps this reaction really made him more human? I can't possibly imagine what I would do in this situation. Of course I'd like to think I'd save them without hesitation. But would I really save strangers when it cost so much money? Truth is, I don't know. I'd still say yes, simply because of the fact that I'd be standing right there and have to watch them die. That is one HUGE guilt trip. I don't really know what to think, I am super conflicted. I'll see how it turns out! |
